Description:

We are proud to offer this beautiful and competitive 1965 McLaren M1B (chassis nummer 30-04) which took part in the inaugural 1966 CanAm championship and has continuous ownership and race-history from 1966 up to the present (see below for the race- and ownership-history). This M1B is absolutely race-ready and has been actively campaigned in the CER(1) race series during the last few years where it always has been a welcome entry. Its current configuration has a 5.7 ltre dry-sump alloy SMB Chevy (10 hours) mated to its original Hewland LG-500 gearbox riding on 10” front wheels and 12.5” rears). Brakes are Girling 2 piston CR at the front and AR at the rear. This potent M1B can also be configured to run in the pre-1966 class in the Masters Series which then also makes the car eligible for the Goodwood Revival in which it has already participated twice. Further evidence of its usability would be the Masters World Sportscar Series where the car could run in the later M1C specification with wider tyres and more rear wing. The current owner bought the car in 2009 and it is sold by him in race-ready condition with nothing further to spend by the new owner. The bodywork has been completely refurbished and the car comes with spare sets of wheels in various dimensions as well as with spare rear bodywork, multiple gear-ratios and other miscellaneous items. It also comes with its current FIA HTP papers and a full history file. This archetype McLaren sports car will provide its new owner with a lot of “bang for the buck” and is a competitive entry in the many events it can participate in.
