Description:
NASCAR cup car project for sale.
This is a genuine raced 2007 Ford Fusion COT (Gen 5 Car of tomorrow) driven by Ricky Rudd on April 1st 2007 at Martinsville speedway in the Goodys Cool Orange 500. It was built by Roush Yates Racing. The race for which can be found on YouTube by following this link https://youtu.be/CyjXQuCtbIE?si=osjXVwdDZvFFvYvw I have also linked this in the ad further down.
I don't really want to sell this, but needs must, and would be a great winter project for someone. This car will be eligible for entry into the Goodwood Festival of Speed if you fit the correct NASCAR Cup motor into it. That was always a dream of mine to do with this car. It already has invites to two major American shows next year, which are American Speedfest at Brands Hatch, and the US Autoshow at Oulton Park. Both of which you get complimentary tickets and time on track.
The car is nearly ready to run, all it needs is an engine and gearbox and you'll be out on track. A few bits still need fitting that I will hopefully get round to doing before the sale. Like fitting the radiator for example.
It has had the body completely gone over and repaired where needed, although I chose not to fix every single little dent and imperfection to preserve its history, and repainted in the correct satin black, before the new wrap was applied in the same configuration it was when it raced in Martinsville. I have pictures of this process if anyone would like to see them. I have also completely repainted the engine bay and boot area. Also replaced and repainted the sheet metal between the sills and chassis. The interior has not been touched since in came off the track (I will also give it a good clean) There are some untidy bits due to its age, and some areas that I will try and get around to sorting before the sale also. I haven't yet done these because I wanted to get the engine built and out on track. Also the fact some of it is showing its age and use, is what I wanted to keep, again, keeping hold of its history as a race used car.
I do have an engine and parts available separately. Which is a 351 Windsor along with trick flow heads, billet cam, and roller rocker assembly etc.
