Description:
This sale is of a Suzuki Hayabusa Engine and 95% of the components you need to turbocharge it and install it in a race or kit car. The kit was designed around an intercooled Garrett GT30-71R turbo to deliver an estimated 350Bhp. The set up was designed for use in hillclimbing to compete in the under 2000cc sports car class as an alternative to a higher capacity engine but would be suitable for any bike engined application that would benefit from a bit more oomph.
The kit was originally assembled to convert a Radical Clubsport to Hayabusa turbo power and so the length of hoses and mounting locations have been designed for this application. A different application would therefore need some redesign of the plumbing however the terminals are reusable so only new hose would be required. All petrol and oil lines are braided stainless steel (Speedflow), all water and air hoses are by Samco.
What’s included?
Hayabusa Engine – 2005 low mileage. This is the best era for car use as it removes problems with reversing in a spin causing a broken starter motor assembly and also has a stronger clutch assembly. No internal modifications. Unopened since removed from bike other than to replace sump.
*Engine Mounts - All required to fit in a Radical Clubsport or Prosport (original radical parts not ‘home welded’). These could be modified for a similar mid-engined kit or racecar or for an inline, North/South application.
*PAIR Valve Blanking Plates - And instructions and components for associated wiring modification requirements
*Billet Manual Timing Chain Tensioner. Prevents the commonest cause of engine failure in high performance bike engines, hydraulic tensioners allowing the timing chain to skip.
*External oil pressure switch and sensor (plus spare sensor)
*Exhaust Manifold. The intention was to produce a custom down pipe that would then link to the turbo.
*Fuel Pressure Regulator and gauge. By Fuelab. Allows for higher fuel flow rate and adjustable pressure.
*Breather Blanking Plate by Big cc plumbed to external catch tank and modified to receive turbo oil return.
*Westfield Baffled Wet Sump – Allows the engine to be mounted lower for reduced centre of gravity. Reduces oil surge in high G cornering and braking with greater reliability than a swinging pick-up.
Accusump – 16” Long 6 Pint with electric valve to allow complete operation from cockpit. Plumbing to main oil gallery. Eliminates the risk of loss of oil pressure during high g cornering and braking without the risks and cost of a dry sump or the power losses associated with overfilling.
*Fuel rail. Modified twin end rail set up and throttle bodies drilled to accept larger injectors.
*480cc Fuel Injectors supplied by Big CC (originals also included)
Billet Aluminium Plenum by Big CC, modified to accept air intake with dump valve tee off but requires welding to complete.
Turbo Pressure Regulator by Forge.
Turbo Oil Scavenge Pump by VDO and mounting bracket.
Turbo Oil One Way Valve to prevent drain back and smoky starts
Bosch 500l Fuel Pump with billet mounting bracket and pre-pump fuel filter
Bullet Fuel Filter and mounting brackets.
Garrett GT30-71R Turbo and wastegate actuator by Forge/Owen Developments – never used. This turbo was selected to give as it provides a good balance between driveability (should work well if derated down to 280hp) and could also be used in a higher power applications (up to 480hp) if the kit was developed later. It’s combination of dual bearings and oil and water cooling provides good reliability
Aluminium Oil Catch Tank by Radical.
Low Compression Pistons and Rings by Wossner. Includes gudgeon pins and ccirclips. Reduces compression ratio to allow higher boost without the risk of preignition.
Head Gasket by Cometic. Required when the new pistons and spacer are fitted.
Base Spacer 0.09”by Cometic. Furter redcues compression ratio.
Water temp take-off billet aluminium tee.
Adjustable Cam Sprockets (Kent Cams). Allows a number of tuning tricks to be exploited (swapping exhaust and inlet for example).
Uprated Clutch Springs by Barrett to help deal with increased torque.
Intercooler Aluminium 9 row single end intercooler with 62mm inlet/outlet. Designed to fit where the exhaust is on a Radical. 560x180x65mm
Aluminium Sprint Fuel Tank – Custom built to suit Radical Clubsport/Prosport. Around half normal width. Includes roll-over valve and breather hose, foam filled. 400wx265hx235d
Original Bike Wiring Loom. Part modified to eliminate unnecessary equipment e.g. tilt switch but needs completion. All original attachments kept including ecu.
Power Commander III USB & Mutli Function Hub – Unused. Includes all instructions including setup CD, 4 bar MAP sensor, Relay harness, pressure input harness. Software is also available for download from the Power Commander website. This allows fuelling and ignition to be mapped to take into account turbo pressure so that the system does not need to be remapped whenever turbo pressure is modified.
Air filter by Pipercross– Fits directly to turbo.
Turbo Exhaust flanges and gaskets.
The only major components required are the downpipe between the manifold and turbo and air hoses. An exhaust system is also required. I had not intended to fit an oil cooler to the system as it was intended for sprinting but this would be a good idea for any other application. I was planning on using a stock water radiator as well and thus this is not included.
In the list above, * means the item is fitted to the engine.
Cash on collection is preferable but I can deliver @45p/mile for the round trip from HP15 6LL provided this is paid in advance along with the sale price.
