Hello,

I'm restoring a historic Group A BMW 635 CSi — chassis number E24 RA2-73. This spare shell, ordered by Frank Gardner of JPS Team BMW, was destined to be built as Jim Richards' next race car for the Australian Touring Car Championship in 1986.

The build was halted by the introduction of the M3 into Group A racing in Australia in 86/87, leaving the E24 chassis untouched in factory black paint as it stands today, 40 years later.

My plan is to build it up to period E24 Group A Evolution specification. I have many original parts sourced from the BMW JPS team and am currently sourcing the following:

Brakes & Master Cylinder

Below are brakes specs I've sourced, but I'm open to other homologated calipers post 1983 HOmologation.

AP Racing caliper CP3162-112 (front, suits 330x35mm disc);
AP Racing caliper CP3574-1050 (rear, suits 278x20.7mm disc);

master cylinders; mounting brackets, pad sets, seal/rebuild kits, braided lines to suit.

Fuel System

FIA-approved fuel cell/bladder (period or modern equivalent for E24 application); fuel pump(s), surge tank, swirl pot; filler neck, dry-break fittings, fuel lines and brackets.

Electrical

Period-correct or Group A-spec wiring loom/harness; master cut-off switch, kill switches, race switch panel; original or reproduction gauges/instrumentation suited to Group A E24.

Suspension & Misc

Rear sway bar; oil cooler and lines; tow hooks and smaller fittings.

Open to genuine NOS, used, or good reproduction homologation parts in any of the above. Happy to discuss provenance and photos, and would welcome any advice from experienced restorers of these cars. Based in Australia, can arrange international shipping.
