Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera G 50
Description:
1987 Porsche 3. 2 Carrera G50 gearbox Lhd. A project that could go several different ways from here, race car, trackday car, hot rod or maybe even a Safari build. UK registered, imported 2017, Porsche COC letter and a couple of mot’s. I originally bought it as a complete driving road car from a known to me seller. I chose it in particular for its totally rot free shell as I didn’t want to go down the often ruinous path of structural repairs. I was originally building it alongside customers race cars for myself to use in the Porsche club “911 challenge” so the remit was to keep things fairly simple/ robust but to focus on the detail. I stripped the car mechanically and this only reassured me of how solid it was and more importantly put my mind at ease that the low 69k recorded mileage was genuine. The shell has been fully caged with a Custom cages “fia” kit including a proper roof X etc and the sunroof deleted with a steel compound curve welded in panel. As I was going to retain the Bosch DME management so I welded a bracket to relocate it to a more serviceable location. Other than the cage welding remarkably no other repairs to the shell were necessary. I have not fitted the door bars yet due to build access and not being able to decide on X or diagonal single bars, though mandrel bent CDS tubes are included for both scenarios. I have deleted unnecessary brackets and paired down the loom of any redundant items etc. New parts sourced and included are bolt or weld in bulkhead blanking plates, “RSR” engine support bar & front tower bracing up stands, lightweight “smugglers” box panel & floor plates, TTV lite steel flywheel, Wavetrac differential and Classic Retofit main fuse board. A full set of Grp lightweight panels to 3. 2 Carrera sport spec. The G 50/ 01 gearbox felt lovely on test drive, is visually “dry” and there is very little play or backlash on input or output shafts. The engine being in original USA lower compression guise was not going to be acceptable so it has been Fully rebuilt to HC Euro spec by Paragon including a new oil pump, Mahle matched barrels & pistons, all gears, chains & guides, bearings etc. No corners cut, heads stripped and volume matched everything blueprinted etc and carefully re assembled. Resulting in a £15k+ invoice, standard headers bolted on for storage support on pallet. Apart from the carpets everything stripped from the original car comes with it including its mint original “tea tray” spoiler, doors, bonnet, seats, original Fuchs wheel etc. When I stripped it everything was boxed logically with fastenings in sub assemblies and carefully dry stored. The original Boge suspension and Ate brakes etc are included and very serviceable but obviously would have been replaced for a race build. I have tried to picture everything included. Currently the main structure is on paddock stands but I can make the car a rolling shell for loading if you want easily. Only for sale due to a serious self enforced cull of my projects and I’m happy to assist the new owner with spec/ tech help and would love to keep in touch with the new owner to its completion. If you’re looking for an amazing staring point for a special project then this car represents excellent value with most of the expensive hard work done. The car and parts alone have cost me well north of £55k without taking into consideration any labour to get to where it is so the price is more than fair IMHO. I’m happy for any inspection in my dry well lit unit and sensible conversation s. lots more images on Car and Classic website advert.
