A competition masterpiece of the period. This amazing looking car with its fuel tanks housed in the distinctive panniers, running between the wheels on both sides arrived on the racing scene early part of the 1954 along with the Mercedes W196. A compact lightweight and positive handling car with a 2.5ltr V8 engine mounted at an angle producing 250bhp had great success in the 1955 season, having a 1st and 3rd place consecutively. After Ascari’s tragic death testing one the 750s the Lancia family did a deal with Ferrari and sent the racecars, technology, spares and staff to Ferrari so that Enzo Ferrari could race the cars under the Scuderia Ferrari Banner. 44 years later the D50’s was recreated in Italy using many of the original parts. The project had the full blessing and input from Lancia Spa. Welcome at most historic racing events Worldwide.
