1973 MRE Formula Ford 1600cc Single Seater

MRE (Motor Racing Enterprises) was one of a host of small independent manufacturers spawned by the arrival of Formula Ford. Designed by Canadian Max Boxstrom, the company's first car, of which this is the third example built, was exhibited at the Racing Car Show in 1973. A versatile, multi-formula design, the MRE ran in F3 and F2 configurations with different suspension, brakes, wheels, aerodynamics, etc. 25 cars were built before the company was sold to ex-F1 drivers Howden Ganley and Tim Shenken, and renamed Tiga. Offered for sale by the original owner of MRE, this car, driven by Roger Orgee and Chris Pryer, was run as the official works entry in 1973, '74 and '75. The car subsequently passed into the ownership of Marcus Bradley, from whom it was purchased by the vendor, and was raced by him  1998-2003. The car was then bought By John Hewett in July 2003 and mainly used for sprint and Hillclimbs. In 2011 the Car passed into ownership of John’s stepson, Calum Frost, and raced by him from 2012-2015 in the classic formula ford championship. Minster engined, it remains in good running order and is offered complete, a copy of original specification sheet, photos and documentation of rebuilds/work done , race result and a quantity of spares including front and rear uprights, brake discs, wishbone jigs and bodywork.
