Racing History

The FA1D was actively utilized by the Osella team during the first eight races of the 1983 F1 World Championship, showcasing its performance under the skilled hands of drivers Piercarlo Ghinzani and Corrado Fabi.

Unique Design and Rarity

As the third of three cars constructed by Osella to accommodate the DFV engine chassis, this vehicle was designated as the spare car at the beginning of the season. The design of the FA1D is widely regarded as one of the most aesthetically pleasing in Formula 1 history. Notably, it is currently the only known example of its kind still in existence, either in collections or actively racing today.

Recent Refurbishment
This iconic Osella has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment by Mirage Engineering, ensuring it meets modern standards while preserving its historical significance. The DFV engine has been meticulously overhauled by Richardson Engineering, and the Hewland gearbox has been rigorously crack tested to guarantee reliability and performance. HTP Papers have been applied for the vehicle and a number of spare parts are included.

Complete with FIA HTP valid until 2032, Ready to race in the Masters Historic F1 and 2026 Monaco Historic F1, and has a fuel cell valid until 2026.

Recent Works include:

• Car was fully rebuilt and refreshed by Mirage Engineering over the winter of 2023-2024. 
• Engine is a strong short stroke rebuilt by Geoff Richardson to their newest spec (450 miles old)
• Gearbox gear cluster was serviced and by PDS in 2023 (450 miles old)
• Crack testing was completed 18/12/2023 so will expire 18/12/2025
• Car has new lightweight carbon sideboards made December 2024
• Car has fresh repaired lightweight carbon kevlar underfloor
• Car has brand new exhaust system made by OJZ engineering
