Built from the ground up by Matt Ellis over the winter of 2019 and the Spring of 2020 for experienced Caterham racer Tony Bennett, no expense was spared on this car and it was a further development of Tony's previously incredibly successful Caterham R300 that achieved a vast amount of podiums and race wins across various series. As an example It had 20 back to back podiums and wins in one season.
This new, even faster Caterham enabled Tony to achieve back-to-back overall championship wins in the Castle Combe GT Championship for the 2020 and 2021 seasons, making it the most successful Caterham to have competed in the series taking many overall and class wins/podiums along the way and with a very strong reliability record. It is one of the fastest racing Caterhams ever built and handles superbly having as much weight removed as realistically possible. As an example of the car's ability aside, from Tony's championships and race wins, Tony's son and current GB3 driver, John Bennett, also set an unofficial lap record for a Caterham around Castle Combe during testing posting a time of 1:06.38.
The car weighs just 515kg wet so including 15 litres of petrol and all fluids and the dyno recorded 291BHP at the hubs (which would equate to approx. 325 BHP at the flywheel). It also made 214ft-lbs totrque at the hubs (which would equate to approx 240ft-lbs at the flywheel).
It would cost over £100,000 to build a new car to this specification and a breakdown of the major components fitted to this Imperial chassis Caterham C400 is as follows:
· X-Power Engines 2.4L Ford Duratec Engine - mapped by Torque Developments International (dyno sheets available on request) and currently with 10.75 hours since last rebuild.
· Syvecs ECU & Aim Solo 2 DL digital dash
· Si-Leck Motorsport Wiring Loom, reworked by St. Cross Electronics to remove any unused wires and with options for wheel speed sensors + pit-speed limiter to be added
· Bespoke Reverie carbon fibre compact bell-housing

There will be a folder full of invoices from when the car was being built as history, plus copies of lap sheets from every race and test day can also be supplied.
A comprehensive spares package is available by seperate neogotiation, which could include components such as: x4 sets of Barnby Racing wheels + slick or wet tyres, pair of GKN driveshafts, full set of aero wishbones, spark plugs, coil packs, engine sensors, starter motor, alternator, spare lithium battery, clutch kit and much more depending on your requirements.
