Description:

This TVR Chimaera is reported to have been the second Chimaera ever built. The car was displayed at the 1993 Earl’s Court motor show, finished in Opal Pearlescent White, with lowered suspension and Griffith 500 alloy wheels. This car was first road registered 20 May 1994.

This Chimaera was originally built into a race car by Mat Smith Sportscars, winter 2017.

The current 3950cc Rover V8 (pre-serpentine) engine installed was rebuilt by Mat Smith Sportscars autumn 2023. Accusump system and engine oil cooler fitted pre-empting a larger capacity Rover V8 engine install.

The car was purchased by me October 2023. The car was refreshed 2023/24 at a cost of over £13,000:

New bespoke engine harness and Emerald K6 ECU, dynamometer mapping completed 6 February 2024, maximum of 260.5hp @ 5980 rpm.

New STACK oil pressure and water temp gauges fitted February 2024.

High torque starter motor (TVR 035E 619A RG) fitted February 2024.

Momo steering wheel and Momo steering wheel hub (MC6605)

Body preparation and new livery

BTR differential (3:73) rebuilt by John Reid (Grantura Engineering, March 2024) and fitted with bracket set to replace GKN differential set-up (a £1,500 cost).

A race T5 gearbox has been installed - gearbox built by John Reid (Grantura Engineering) with Quaife wide ratio uprated gear set (Competition Transmission Services (Gearboxman) - No. GBMT52T) and matching Quaife input shafts etc. (at £3,000+ total cost).

A rebalanced prop-shaft fitted with T5 gearbox install.

TVR AP Racing, CP6600 4-piston front brake calipers. Front discs upgraded (October 2025) to Reyland Motorsport Ltd 330 diam disc x 28 thickness, straight vane ventilated disc rotors, on custom made Reyland, bolted (PCD 196.85mm) bell mountings (4 x 108 pcd stud pattern), plus Reyland caliper spacers. Option to fit AP CP6565-194/5 curved vane disc rotors in the future - Mintex D55 (2207F2R16.00) front brake pads. 

GAZ mono dampers.

Perspex windscreen.

Moulded fibreglass race roof (to be fitted and finished) included.

Rear wheel bearings renewed March 2024.

Note: The car is wired for Racelogic VBOX HD Lite cameras (not included) and VBOX predictive lap-timer.

This car was raced, 11 May 2024 at Donington Park (National) - best lap times of 1:20.475 (Qualifying – 12th), 1:21.067 (Race) – Race 1 finished 10th, Race 2 finished 13th - Source: TSL Timing

The car raced under hire (supported by Coastal Motorsport) by Jasper Gilder in Bernie's V8s for the 2025 season.

This is a superb TVR V8, eligible for Bernie’s V8 grid, CSCC, YTCC
