Description:

This TVR Chimaera is reported to have been the second Chimaera ever built. The car was displayed at the 1993 Earl’s Court motor show, finished in Opal Pearlescent White, with lowered suspension and Griffith 500 alloy wheels. This car was first road registered 20 May 1994.

This Chimaera was originally built into a race car by Mat Smith Sportscars, winter 2017.

The current 3950cc Rover V8 (pre-serpentine) engine installed was rebuilt by Mat Smith Sportscars autumn 2023. Accusump system and engine oil cooler fitted pre-empting a larger capacity Rover V8 engine install.

The car was purchased by me October 2023. The car was refreshed 2023/24 at a cost of over £13,000:

New bespoke engine harness and Emerald K6 ECU, dynamometer mapping completed 6 February 2024, maximum of 260.5hp @ 5980 rpm.

BTR differential (3:73) rebuilt by John Reid (Grantura Engineering, March 2024) and fitted with bracket set to replace GKN differential set-up (a £1,500 cost).

TVR AP Racing, 4-piston front brake calipers and 322mm diameter vented discs.

GAZ mono dampers.

Perspex windscreen.

Moulded fibreglass race roof (to be fitted and finished) included.

Rear wheel bearings renewed March 2024

Latest work ongoing via Mat Smith Sportscars – due to complete September 2024:

Road T5 gearbox currently installed.

A race T5 gearbox is being built by John Reid (Grantura Engineering) with Quaife wide ratio gear set and matching Quaife input shafts – gearbox due to be refitted to this car now estimated November 2024 (at some £2,000+ cost). Or, a Roadcraft Tremec T5 (Mustang spec)/TKX install is a possible alternative route at additional cost/negotiation if a buyer prefers.

A rebalanced prop-shaft will be fitted with T5 gearbox install. 

Note: The car is wired for Racelogic VBOX HD Lite cameras and VBOX predictive lap-timer power.

Transponder not included.
