Description:
The vehicle was developed by John Moore in 1961 and used in the 750MC in England. Later on, it was also used in the historic Formula Junior.
Moore was a supplier of Girling brakes to all the well-known racing teams of the 1950s and 1960s. In 1961, he saw the F1 body of Jack Brabham's Cooper T51 at Cooper´s factory, which he had driven in the French Grand Prix. He bought the body and also magnesium rims from Cooper, as well as front and rear wheel carriers. He then built a suitable frame for the body and its parts in his garage and fitted a BMC Mk1 engine (from the Mini) to match the Formula Junior regulations. He also fitted a Mini gearbox transversely behind the engine. The car set 3 lap records in its class that year, one of which was in Silverstone.
The car was then sold to various owners and was found by the Bellinger family in England sometime in the 2000s, who completely restored the car. Around 100 photos and correspondence with Moore have been preserved. The vehicle was then driven for a few years before disappearing into the family's collection. We then bought the vehicle, overhauled all the axles and checked the engine and gearbox, renewed the brakes, tyres and brake cylinders, as well as the steering gear and fitted the wishbones with ball joints for better adjustment. The vehicle was last extensively tested at a nearby airfield and was a favourite at the Nürburgring Classic event. A second body is also included, which was used alongside the mounted one from Moore. There are about 3 folders with documentary of the car, including a engine spec sheet, of the parts which were fitted.
The vehicle is one of 2 cars built by John Moore and the only Warwick with a rear engine
The vehicle offers an inexpensive way to enter the historic formula scene.
