Reluctantly, I’m putting my Royale up for sale. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but who couldn’t love this car’s fantastic lines?

It is also, when not handicapped by the current owner’s presence behind the wheel, very fast. It qualified in the 2.04s at the Silverstone Classic in ’22 - headed only by an M8F and John Burton’s B26, and in front of all the Lolas, Marchs, Osellas and other Chevrons – and did a 1.30:2 when Rob Wainwright won in it on the Brands GP circuit in ’23.

Originally an RP6 (RP6/8), it was meticulously converted into an RP17 by Peter Richardson for the previous owner, in which spec it was issued with its current FIA HTP. After completion in 2014, GSD Racedyn conducted a report on this “rare, interesting and beautifully prepared car” which contributed to the very user-friendly handling the car displays. No expense was spared during the rebuild nor during my ownership, with Gerry Wainwright Motorsport maintaining the car to the highest standard.

The super-reliable BDG has done 5 meetings since it was rebuilt by Craig Beck in August ’22.

One spare set of (MB) wheels and various other spares (silencer for trackday testing, MSD coil and new 6AL ignition unit, radiator, rear upright, wheel bearings, starter motor, radius rods and other suspension parts, ratios, dog rings etc), and perhaps my engine pre-heater.

Fire extinguisher new in 2023, and the harness in 2021.

Surely the least expensive way on to the Masters Sports Car Legends grid, or any other series where Chevron B19s and the like are welcome.
