BEBI – a unique Bizzarrini heritage project
The BEBI project was commissioned by a Swedish company to legendary Giotto Bizzarrini with the mission to develop a modern, but smaller and even lighter Bizzarrini P538 - hence the name BEBI. The project is mentioned in several books about Bizzarrini.
Giotto Bizzarrini did the conceptual ideas and built a first prototype - the P1. His proposal was a lightweight barchetta, influenced by the P538 but built with modern technique and materials and with a high safety factor, but he wanted to keep the oldschool mechanical feel of the car, where the driver is in charge, not assisted by computers. The first prototype P1 was therefore a carbonfibre monocoque with long central mounted formula type A-arms on subframes front and rear. This design gave the car a very nice feel on track, but also better safety since the front suspension was in front of the carbonfibre tub. The bodywork was at first a modified Bizzarrini Europa without roof. Later that design was scrapped and Swedish designer Tue Beijer did a modern take on the P 538 concept that was approved by Bizzarrini.
The project was later taken to Sweden to be developed by a team of qualified engineers, moderated by Giotto Bizzarrini. A second prototype was developed for the Tue Beijer design. After much testing the final prototype P3 was developed and built. The Bizzarrini concept fully remains but the car is slightly longer and wider and uses a RPE V8 engine producing 450 Hp at 10500 RPM, to take the 750 kg all carbonfibre and state of the art track racer up to speed.
It is important to understand that all development has been professionally carried out. Everything is CAD designed and can be developed into a road version. Apart from CAD data there are also drawings and milled moulds and jigs for all parts. The car has been driven and tested on racetracks in Spain and Sweden.
Our mission is fulfilled and now the project needs a new owner with the passion and resources to either take it into production or just finalize the car to a bespoke exclusive one off with a very special history.
If interested let us know on e-mail (contact seller) and we will get in touch and send a PDF presentation and a video for a deeper understanding of the project.
