TIGA / WFR LMP2 project

Description:

TIGA / WFR LMP2 project

History:

The project started as the Embassy Racing WF-01 which is a Peter Elleray designed 'clean sheet' chassis designed in 2007 for Embassy Racing and first raced in the 2008 season.

Aerodynamic testing was carried out using the RUAG wind tunnel at Emmen, Switzerland, where the Bentley Speed 8 was perfected, resulting in headline aerodynamic figures for the WF01 were ‘very impressive’. The WF01 features a blow through, as opposed to blow over, front end, which was found to be more efficient, both for downforce and for cooling levels.

The 3.4-litre Zytek ZG348 engine was paired with the Ricardo six-speed sequential gearbox.

Suspension (fr/r)     double wishbones, push-rod actuated torsion bars (front) springs (rear) and dampers

Steering     rack-and-pinion, electric power assisted

Brakes     carbon ceramic ventilated discs, all-round

Engine Configuration     Zytek ZG348 90º V8

Engine Weight     120 kilo / 264.6 lbs

Displacement     3,396 cc / 207.2 cu in

Zytek EMS 4.6.1 Fuel Injection

Power     540 bhp / 403 KW @ 9,500 rpm

Gearbox     Ricardo 6 speed Sequential

Weight     825 kilo / 1,819 lbs

Chassis #01 & #02 competed in all five rounds of the 2008 Le Mans Series, and also #02 took part in the 2008 Le Mans 24Hr with drivers Hughes / Kane / Foster.

In 2009 #02 ran in the 2009 season finale at Silverstone with drivers Hughes / Manning / Firth.

In January 2013 Tiga Race Cars acquired the complete project, including all tooling, body moulds and extensive spares.

The initial proposal was to develop an LMP2 ‘cost capped’ generation car, as a Tiga LM214, first as an open car, and then ultimately developed into a Coupe.

The outline engine install for a Judd HK 4L V8 engine was completed, and initial prototype bodywork parts for updates to the cost capped requirements which was used for wind tunnel testing and development. However this project was shelved when the ACO ruled that there would only be a limited number of manufacturers.

With the introduction of the Masters Historic Endurance legends series, work recommenced reverting to WF01 specification, with an outline engine install for the Judd DB 3.4L V8, due to extended timescales and availability of the original Zytek ZG348 engine.

The cars are now offered for sale, either as individual cars, or both cars including the full project inventory and tooling. Full documentation / drawings will be included with the project.

The chassis include the major parts for the following engine options –

Option #1 : Zytek ZG348 3.4L V8 or near physical equivalent

Option #2 : Judd DB 3.4L V8 – Engine with 0 miles since rebuild at Judd available by separate offer.

Option #3 : Judd HK 4.0L V8 – can also be used with modified BMW S65 M3 engine.

In addition outline engineering concept diagrams are available for an LS3 engine installation.

The cars are eligible for Masters Endurance Legends, Open class in Sports Prototype Cup and Zeo Prototypes Class A, and would also make a unique fast track day car.
