PILBEAM MP92 (carbon tub) Sports Racing car with Steve Schmidt Racing of Indianapolis all alloy Chevrolet V8 Race Engine and Hewland NLT 6 speed sequential gearbox.
The car was 2nd in Class in the 2023 British Hillclimb Cup (Sports Libre over 2000cc)
The car was built by Pilbeam in 2005 specifically for speed hillclimbing, but is equally at home for sprinting on race circuits. The car is the only MP92 which features a carbon fibre tub, it was modelled on the space frame Pilbeam MP84 models that were raced as LMP2 cars at Le Mans and in the USA in the Sebring series.
The engine is was built by Steve Schmidt Racing of Indianapolis to the following specification 415.5 cubic inch capacity aluminium tall deck block, raised big, cam location, 904 lifter bore, Callies Magnum 4” stroke crankshaft, Oliver steel I-beam connecting rods, J.E. pistons with tool steel gudgeon pins, Total Seal piston rings,Clevite 77 engine bearings, , Fell Pro engine gaskets, 55 mm Competition solid roller camshaft, Isky Red Zone EZ roll X-lifter,ATI super damper, Canfield/CFE/Schmidt 18 degree aluminium cylinder heads with CNC and hand porting, Titanium valves, titanium retainers,Manle valve springs, Comp Cam pushrods, Jesel belt drive and Jesel rocker arms, Schmidt build alloy engraved rocker covers, special ported Rdlebrick/ Glidden intake manifold, Kinsler "Dragon Claw" fuel injection system, MSD distributor MSd spark plug wires and crank trigger system, Billit timing pointer, complete dry sump oiling system with remotr oil tank and all Earl’s braided hoses, ARP engine fasteners.
The engine was initially too fierce with the power delivery and consequently sent to Peter Knight Racing UK where a softer cam and fuel injection was fitted which made the engine more tractable.
The engine on a dyno produced 764bhp and 646.1 lb.ft. torque.(dyno sheets available)
The gearbox is a Hewland NLT 6 speed sequential, developed for world rally cars, to cope with the high b.h.p.and torque.
Carbon fibre clutch.
The car will be sold with 3 ½ sets of alloy wheels, 6 rears and 8 fronts, one set fitted with new Avon slick tyres, one set with good intermediate Avon slick tyres , and one set fitted with good part worn Avon slicks. 2 additional front alloy rims without tyres.
A set of 4 narrow transport wheels with tyres included.
The car comes with additional bodywork, namely, new front aerofoil, 2 spare sills, 4 spare air vents, front brake air ducts, drivers bucket seat, spare set of damper springs, oil cooler radiator assembly kit and a Drift on car camera system.
4 New brake discs/pads fitted all round in late 2021
New Redtop 60 battery fitted and the car is self starting.
M.S.A. log book dated 2022.
The car will be supplied with New Techniques diesel engine heater, high cranking starter battery pack on a trolley, wheel removal sockets and wheel fitting dummy.
The car has previously been prepared and set up by Tom New of New Techniques.

Also available is a specially adapted for the Pilbeam 2019 ECO Velocity RS two axle enclosed racecar trailer which is fitted with electric motormover, electric winch, heavy duty leisure battery, extension fibreglass ramps, 240 volt charger socket, spare wheel and carrier, nose lock, two tyre racks fitted front and rear, battery isolator socket, recently serviced and with very good tyres.
