Cosworth SCA 1-litre F2 race engine, 1965 - SOLD

This is now SOLD. Search for similar items.

Description:

In recent years, Crosslé Car Company has had the privilege of offering for sale a wide range of historic racing cars and equipment on behalf of Tommy Reid, BRDC member and icon of Irish motor racing.

This is an exceptional opportunity to purchase a period Cosworth SCA race engine in near-original condition, stored and undisturbed for decades. The SCA powered 1-litre F2 cars from 1964 to 1966, using a cast iron block and aluminium alloy head with gear-driven SOHC and 2 valves/cylinder to produce initially 115 BHP from 997cm3.

This engine block is embossed 120E-6015 and stamped with serial number SCA 50606. Cylinder head is stamped 9 12BU and NA.78, gear housing stamped 65-38 5. Carburettors are a pair of Weber 40 IDF2, serial numbers 14 and 17.

Photographs show the engine part-stripped at the workshop of SCA specialist Jeremy Bennett in July 2022. Original Laystall crankshaft is standard, never reground, with Cosworth steel caps. Engine block has not been linered. Pistons and rods are original Cosworth. Some cam followers are original one-piece, others have been sleeved.

The engine appears to be in excellent period condition and could be rebuilt and run as-is, or enhanced with modern components (pistons and rings for example) and new cam followers.  It can be inspected at the Tetbury premises of Nemesis Racing, where Jeremy will be happy to discuss rebuild options.

Price £19,500 as-is, where-is. Crosslé can arrange secure delivery to any destination worldwide.
