Description:
ALFA ROMEO ALFETTA GTV 2000 1-OWNER TIMEWARP DISCOVERY!
Discovered in mid-2021 by a well-known Alfa Romeo sleuth, this timewarp early Alfetta GTV 2000 was last on the road in 1987 when it had covered just 66, 803 kms from new.
According to the original sales invoice, this special order car was sold to a British Alfa Romeo employee resident in Switzerland on 10th June 1977 by Alfa Romeo Milano for SF 8, 078.
Resplendent in Ivory with a striking Pimento velour interior, this sleek model must have, and still does, make a striking impression on the road.
After such a long hibernation, the rediscovered Aletta was sent immediately to Alfetta Guru, Richard Drake, in Norwich for a systematic and meticulous recommissioning. What struck Richard the most was the utter lack of corrosion on a model that is famed for succumbing to the dreaded tin worm.
In the process of recommissioning this time-warp discovery, Richard implemented a few upgrades that would serve to compliment the car's dynamic road qualities. This featured a camshaft upgrade to fast-road specification; producing more torque and therefore enhanced driveability. As you can see from the photos, the transaxle was taken out and fully checked and replaced with new discs. The cylinder head was fully overhauled and fitted with fast-road camshafts. Richard has stated that this particular example has one of the best gearchanges of any similar model he has test-driven. Cosmetically the car received a partial repaint (Photos are available showing pre-paint to prove the lack of corrosion), restored alloy wheels and new tyres all-round. The interior is stunningly original and beautifully preserved. Under-bonnet has been cleaned but not disguised with over-restoring so there is nothing to hide from the fact that this is one of the most original unrestored Alfetta GTV examples available today.
The original handbook is with the car as well as the service book which shows service work both abroad and in the U. K by Alfa specialists such as Bell & Colville. A second set of keys are also with the car. The car has been verified by both AROC GB and FCA in Italy.
On MOT testing the car at 67, 448 kms, Richard has embarked on a road test programme, adding miles but gently settling the car down after its long hibernation and subsequent re-awakening.
Such unmolested examples rarely come onto the market. Here is a chance to acquire, not only a desirable early-model Alfetta GTV but one that is as close to original as can possibly be expected for such a model.
Please be aware that while this car is LHD, it is UK registered (and has been since 1979) and has a new V5C with 'HISTORIC' rating and therefore MOT and Road Tax exempt. However, the current MOT is valid until 16th December 2022.
Sympathetically recommissioned and fully road-tested by an acknowledged, leading specialist in these cars, this charming and very special Alfetta GTV 2000 is now ready for an appreciative long-term custodian.
Available for viewing with Richard Drake in Norwich.
