Elva Courier Race Winning Race Car

A well developed & highly competitive historic race car, having benefited from much recent expenditure to turn it into a front running & recent race winning car. 

Elva Courier’s were built as a ‘racing car for the road’ with a very stiff but light chassis, adjustable spring damper units on all four corners & lightweight glass fibre bodywork which is very aerodynamic. Approximately 500 were built between 1958 & 1969, the vast majority being shipped to America. It is estimated that there are less than 50 examples in UK today.  
In race trim an Elva Courier is typically 150kg lighter than an FIA MGB. It has similar weight, with more predictable handling than a TVR Grantura. There are less than 15 racing in UK at the moment, making them very popular with race series organisers. 
This car is an early Mk3, it retains the most popular early style more rounded bodywork, being a Mk3 it benefits from the later, stiffer chassis. 

Re-imported into the UK from America in 2018 by our client in very good race ready condition. WCE have changed the specification to suit UK regulations including a new 1850cc race engine, rebuilt 4 synchro gearbox, new LSD, new damper units & new alloy wheels.

Featured in Autosport in July 2021. Very competitive, with recent strong finishes in Equipe Classic Racing, with an outright win & 5th overall at Castle Combe in July 2021 & 3rd overall at Silverstone in June.

The engine is a WCE full race 1850cc unit, capacity checked & sealed, with 7hrs running. Fitted with steel crank, Arrow rods, forged pistons & new Burgess full race cylinder head, producing 123bhp & 114ftlb torque at the wheels, approx. 158bhp at the flywheel. With H6 SU carburettors mounted on a specially developed inlet manifold.

The specification includes:
-    Rebuilt 4 synchro straight cut close ratio gearbox with 5 hours run time.
-    Rebuilt diff with new plate type LSD with 5 hours run time. 
-    New 14" Minator alloys with anthracite spokes & polished rim's fitted in early 2021, fitted with good used Dunlop 550L Racing tyres.
-    New bespoke alloy, foam filled fuel tank with twin Facet red top fuel pumps, individually switched.
-    New spring damper units were fitted during 2020 & have been optimised over the past year.
-    Rear roll cage, with forward facing diagonal bar.
-    Original dashboard with original style instruments & switches.
-    New Kirkey alloy seat, with classic style padded cover.
-    TRS Ultralite HANS safety harness, dated to end of 2025.
-    Lifeline 4ltr plumbed in fire system.
-    2 spare new alloy wheels fitted with Dunlop 550L Racing tyres.
-    New front under tray to improve straight line speed & high speed stability. 
-   RaceLogic Lap Timer. 
-    Bespoke tonneau with integral stiffening bars. 
 

Eligible for the very popular Equipe Classic Racing GTS & Libre series & also the CSCC Swinging ‘60s series in UK & several high profile European historic race series.
