Elva Mk 6 with FIA HTP papers
Description:
Factory built in 1962 and thought to be hillclimbed and raced by Tony Lanfranchi at Harewood, Mallory Park, Oulton Park, Goodwood, Snettertonetc winning the Autosport championship. features indicatin a very early car include Lockheed tin pot master cylinders, gearshift support bearings positioned in frame indicate a rare rear entry Hewland Mk2 gearbox(only 10 made and supplied to Elva for formula junier and Mk6 usage), magnesium gearbox side plates for inboard drum brakes
Exported to USA in 1984 by a Preston dealer with Mk 7 front body and side pods, no rear body, Ford engine in pieces and a twin cam engine, Rebuilt to as close as posible to original specification after re imported to UK in 2014 as a pile of ill assorted rusty bits with US built Coventry Climax engine and US made unused bodywork. The gearbox had no internals but was with original Elva magnesium side plates for inboard drum brakes
Coventry Climax FWB 1460cc engine was built in USA by Hutton Motor Engineering in1988 (original build sheet with car), fitted with two twin choke Weber DCOE carbs. Untouched until 2019 when it was used in a hillclimb. Rolling roaded in 2022 giving 122bhp and 115lbft and has run in a further hillclimb. Oil line fitted with 10 row oil cooler, Lumenition distributer and dynamo look alike alternator
Clutch is a new CP7381 from and mated to a Hewland Mk2 gearbox(1 of 10 made for Elva) rebuilt by JP Race at Silverstone with 5 speeds and reverse. the gear change entry is at rear. Magnesium side plates for drum brake mounting. 8/33 final drive and ratios 16-35, 19-32, 22-30, 23-27, 25-27
Car fitted with chassis plate No 60/17 supplied by Roger Dunbar of Elva in 2018. Original apparently lost when body work changed to Mk7 in the 60's
Front and rear finned drum brakes have 9" x 1.75"relined shoes and Lockheed "tin pot" master cilinders. Steel pipe and Goodridge plumbing.
Dash fitted with o-8000 tacho, oil pressure and water temperature guages, ignition, fuel pump and light switches
Adjustable gaz shock absorbers and replaceable coil springs. Tyres are Dunlop racing. Single fuel tank is new, foam filled and 27 litre capacity per original.
History/build file lists all components, 4 US owners, drawings, rebuild photos etc.
FIA HTP papers valid to 2034 and with spares as follows
Bodywork including nose, engine cover and side pods, new windscreen, gear ratios, lower painted rear wishbones, upper and lower front LH painted wishbones
