Lotus 18 Formula Junior "Spare Car"
Australian made. No chassis plate or racing history prior to 2012.
While restoring Historic Racing cars in the 70s and 80s I worked on four Lotus 18 FJs and using the same jigs, body moulds and patterns I assembled parts for this car.
Chassis is fusion welded except for some brackets that have nickel bronze joints.
Constructed to original specifications; Ford 105/109E castings, rubber bushed suspension, close ratio synchromesh gearbox.
Spares include;
2 unused nosepieces, and a former for Perspex windscreen.
New set of rear suspension wishbones and radius arms with correct bushes.
Renault 318 gearbox casings & internals, 3 of.
Spare new close ratio gear set.
New quill shaft 7/8” x 20 spline.
105E Bell Housing and Renault adaptor plate.
One new magnesium wheel.
Raced with other FJs at Lakeside in 2013. 4 starts: 3 firsts, 1 second.
Raced at Winton May 2019, 1 class win (Group M)
