Description:

Chiron Sports Prototype

This is one of the best developed Chiron Sports Prototypes anywhere and offers a new owner huge performance for the money. I have decided to sell because I am planning to race a Historic F3 in the HSCC next year and I can't race both.

This is a highly competitive car for various championships around the world such as OSS in the UK, Dutch GT & Prototype Challenge in Europe and the NSW Supersports Championship in Australia.

Powered by an Ex Swindon BTCC 2L DOHC 16 Valve Vauxhall, which has been fully rebuilt to as new specification by renowned Vauxhall race engine Guru Frank Anderson (in September 2018). The motor produces between 284 - 297BHP depending on which rolling road is used. Torque is always at or a little above 200 ft/lb.

Power is delivered via a rebuilt (Aug 2019) 6 speed sequential Sadev transaxle with a ramp and plate limited slip differential, running on paddles and Geartronics Software. These Sadev’s are awesome and for anyone who has not heard them in action, listen to the short video clip attached !

A full ground up, no expense spared refurbishment was completed in March 2017 just before I purchased the car. The quality and attention to detail is great (see pictures). There are very few prototypes being made any more which are of this quality, with this level of performance and at such a sensible price.

The spec includes DTA data logging, AiM dash, Goldstar Onboard Camera, double adjustable Koni shocks, with a 3rd spring set up on the front. Brakes are Performance Friction and the bodywork and floors are Carbon Fibre, Kevlar and GRP. There is also a bespoke carbon crash-box. The wiring loom is a super high quality bespoke item. We run the car on a x2 pedal set up and a hand clutch, but this can be changed back to the original and conventional 3 pedal set up in less than 1 hour.

In terms of aero, the front splitter has full depth guide vanes and the rear wing is a substantial dual plane design. Downforce is estimated at 1450 Lbf at 150 MPH. The aero package is particularly good and not only gives the car a predictable balance in the dry, but is extraordinary in the wet. For example, at our last wet race (OSS in Oct 2018) we recored two overall wins with an average margin of over 10 seconds in both. You will need a very expensive car (or a very talented driver) to beat this in the wet!

The suspension has a Chiron wide track upgrade and has been developed significantly based upon a comprehensive assessment and report by Nigel Rees at GSD Racedyn. This coupled with the great aero has resulted in significant lap time gains. For example, we have managed a best of 1.03.2 at Donington Nat. If someone decent was behind the wheel this car would definitely do a 1.02 with fresh rubber.

The car has only been raced lightly over the past 3 years and we have attended just 2 OSS race meetings since the full engine rebuild in September 2018. The results have been 2 overall wins and a 2nd (where we had a minor gearbox issue - now fixed). Previously in OSS and when getting used to the car, we recorded x2 wins, x2 2nd’s, x3 3rds and a 5th (started last)

The car has been lovingly looked after by Neil Cox at Corinium Motorsport and genuinely needs nothing to go racing and win. The car will come with a small spares package, x2 sets of Oz wheels and Avon slicks (dry weather) and x2 sets of F3 wheels and Michelin Tyres (wet weather). All are immaculate. Spare parts are readily available from Henry Nickless Chiron WSC in the UK.

Christmas is coming, so go and treat yourself to a stunning car which will cost less than a late Radical SR3 RSX but will lap Donington about 3 seconds faster !

Viewing by appointment only please.
