This race car is the ex works, Lance Macklin,Tony Gaze and Peter Collins 1952-53 HWM Formula 2 based supercharged “Tasman racing single seat  chassis # 52/107.

Run as a Works Entry in Grand Prix races in period and converted in 1954 to ultra potent Twin -blown Tasman specification.

Regarde by company founder as the best HWM ever built.

This iconic survivor from the charismatic specialist British manufacturers,Hersham and Walters Motors, HWM came to prominence immediately post war.The company was a partnership between two great mortor enthusiats, driver George Abecassis and engineer John Heath. They were quick to spot the emerging talent of young racing drivers, including Sterling Moss, Lance Macklin and later Peter Collins.

This HMW built originally in 1952 with the supercharged 2 liter four cylinder Alta engine for Formula 2 racing was later reequipped with its present super chargers GP Alta power unit specifically for what would become known as free-Formula Tasman racing in New Zealand 1954.

Eventually the car returned to England where it had a 100,000 pound restoration. The following owner took the car to Setford and Company, the respected specialist in post war single seasters with instructions for whatever was necessary to be done to ensure it would be a safe and competitive motorcar in 2013 the cost was 60,000 pounds.It raced one time at Goodwood Members Meeting.The car is currently in CA where it has raced 3 times.
