Originally built February 2016.
We have raced this car in MINI Challenge in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
2016 – Full season, 5 race wins, 5 podiums.
2017 – Two rounds, 2 race wins, 5 podiums.
2018 – Full season, 8 wins, 10 podiums.
The car has been raced with no expense spared, with preparation completed between each round as well as full winter rebuilds. The results and specification of the car speak for itself – it’ll be a shame to see it go as many hours have gone into it during the last three years.
Suspension:
KW Clubsport - Revalved at KW GmbH for motorsport use with slick tyres.
120N/mm spring rate all round.
Front and Rear subframes stripped bare and powdercoated KTM orange.
New front lower control arms in 2016.
Front balljoints and track rod ends replaced throughout 2018 season.
Powerflex front wishbone bushes.
R56 rear trailing arms - mounted using KND Engineering spherical bearings.
Eibach adjustable rear lower control arms.
OEM facelift rear upper control arms fitted with Powerflex black series.
Superpro 20mm adjustable RARB.
MINI One 16mm FARB.
Superpro adjustable droplinks – front and rear.
All wheel bearings replaced in 2018.
Ultra-Racing front strut brace.
Brakes:
VMaxx 330mm 4 Piston BBK, two-piece front discs.
OEM rear discs.
OEM rear calipers new in 2017.
Mintex F2R front pads.
Mintex M1144 rear pads.
Inside:
Custom Cages weld-in roll cage.
Lifeline extinguisher system, manual operation, larger volume to meet future regulations (new in May 2018).
MOMO Daytona FIA seat.
MOMO Mod.78 Steering wheel fitted with BG Racing spacer and MOMO boss.
TRS 6-point harness.
Manual kill switch.
High level brake light wired in as rain light.
Lohen driver’s footplate.
Varley red top battery – mounted on raised battery box (to allow for the exhaust).
Heater matrix removed.
Powertrain:
K&N cone filter inside standard airbox, with rear facing trumpet.
17% reduced supercharger pulley.
Reconditioned facelift (Teflon coated) Eaton M45 supercharger – fitted June 2018.
Airtec intercooler.
Engine rebuilt by RJ Developments May 2018:
- JCW cylinder head, new valve stem seals, valve guides etc.
- Steel forged PEC conrods and forged Wossner pistons.
- OEM bearings and seals used throughout.
- ARP head and rod bolts.
- Newman phase 2 camshaft.
- KND Engineering baffled sump.
Mapped at 1320 Mini to meet 180bhp/tonne specifications.
Scorpion exhaust manifold – modified by 1320 Mini to accept OEM cat.
Milltek R56 Exhaust – straight design reduces weight compared to the R53 system.
Pre-facelift gearbox with gripper LSD fitted using new bearings in 2018.
LHS and RHS driveshafts replaced September 2018.
Direnza Aluminium radiator (increased core size and heat dissipation over OEM).
Helix autosport single mass flywheel and 4 paddle clutch.
Bodywork & Wheels:
Resprayed in BMW Alpine White February 2018.
Interior and cage painted in Nardo Grey March 2016.
All standard bodywork and glass (no fibreglass or lexan).

Although this car has been built to MINI Challenge specifications – there’s also numerous other race series it can be eligible for within the UK.
