I have a March 783 project car that I don’t think I’ll ever get around to completing unfortunately. It pains me to admit it but I have too many projects and something has to give. This car has an interesting history here in the USA as a SuperVee. March sales records show chassis number 783-26 was taken off the F3 production line and sold to Wilbur Bunce ‘to be converted to SuperVee’ quoting the sales receipt. Bunce built the car up for Dennis Firestone who raced in it 1978 before being his spare car for his championship winning 1979 season (in a 79V). He did use this 783 to win at Indy that year. The car then passed to Mike Hull Racing (he of Ganassi Racing fame nowadays) where it was last raced by a Gerill Rice up to about 1981. At which point the car disappeared and likely unused. Although it has no F3 history my plan was to restore it back to F3 spec.

The car is complete with all suspension, uprights, metal work and even the original steering wheel. The magnesium parts I have had chromated. The gearbox is compete but it will require assembly. I do have a new 13:36 CWP and a cam and pawl diff. The internals I have are for a 4 speed so you will need the parts to convert to 5 speed if you plan on the F3 route. There is no engine. The bodywork top section is in reasonable condition as is the nose but my plan was to take molds and make new parts. I do have one pretty cool ground effect side pod but that’s no longer legal I believe.

I have two sets of period Gotti Wheels and two original March wheel centers.

My plan was to re-skin the tub but the original is in reasonable shape considering it’s age and whatever happened to it between 1981 and now.
