1978 Williams Formula One Car FW06 #03
SOLD - SOLD - SOLD - SOLD - SOLD - SOLD
This was the first Patrick Head designed Williams F1 car. The fledgling team of Williams Grand Prix Engineering entered this car in 1978 with Alan Jones as a single car entry in that year’s world championship. The car suffered teething problems and its most successful event was the American Grand Prix where Alan Jones finished in second place. The car was then used at the beginning of the 1979 season by Alan Jones and Clay Regazzoni with Regazzoni driving this chassis in the first 4 races of that year.
This car has been in it's present ownership for over 30 years and has competed in historic F1 events throughout Europe.
Specification of the car.
3 litre Cosworth DFV (500bhp @10500 rpm) Rebuilt 8/9 years ago and has only done demonstration runs since. A refresh would be recommended before competitive use.
6 speed Hewland gearbox.
Aluminium monocoque chassis.
The HTP papers are valid until December 2025. The belts are in date but the fuel cell & fire suppression system will need replacing and new crack test certificates will be required.
Other than this the car is in excellent condition having been maintained by an ex Williams engineer.
Spares including wheels & bodywork etc are available as are the original body moulds.
