Description:
Outstanding race preparation by Lee Chapman Racing, GMT Racing and John Rogers Racing. Excellent records. Low-time complete engine rebuild by Hank Clarkson with build sheet and Dyno sheet. Hewland 5-speed gearbox. One of the better examples one could hope to find.
Over the years, it has been driven to numerous historic wins in SVRA 3 Hour Enduros and HSR Enduros. Co-driven by Stirling Moss and other renown racing personalities, this Lotus comes with a log book and photos of recent race success.
Lotus factory records show it was delivered in British Racing Green on June 28, 1962 to Sy Kaback in New York, of Weathermatic, which ran a team of two Lotus 23B in club racing. Then it reemerged in the United Kingdom with Roger Hurst. Hurst sold the Lotus 23B to Kelvin Jones (Liverpool, England) of Kelvin Jones Motorsports. In 1992, it went to Lee Chapman (Newtown, Conn.) of Lee Chapman Racing. The 23-S-29 has been with the present owner, Peter McLaughlin (Hanover, N.H.), former owner of Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA), for 26 years.
There is another car with the same chassis number, therefore, the price has been reduced from $125,000 to $79,000. If someone accepts this, they can have a great racing car at a fair value.
