Description:
Awesome and really fun to drive 1988 BMW M3 (E30) Group N, prepared according FIA regulations (4th Period, Group N <2500) for classic cars after a glorious past, since the first 90's, when the car raced in Italy as Group N-CIVT. The car just won the 2017 Italian Historic Cars Championship (4th Period).
The first BMW M3 (E30 series) doesn't need any kind of introduction: it is just the queen of touring cars of the golden era - between the 80's and the 90's - into national, international and world championships, where it won almost everything! The M3 had been designed and developed to race and win: still nowadays it is reliable and winning among the classics. The Group N is surely less performing than the Group A but it is easier to use, to maintain and to convert from track specs to hillclimb or rally ones, without heavy modifications.
It is a "multi-purpose" racing car.
Our M3 was one of the leading cars in CIVT (Italian Touring Car Championship) of the first 90's, driven by Federico Bellini and followed by Autotecnica team (Rome) - Mario Tamburini.
In 1991 our car ended the championship in 2nd position of the Group N, while in 1992 it ended 4th overall thanks to many podiums and victories. During the latter years the car still raced in the CIVT with other drivers then passed to the CIVM (Italian Hillclimb Championship) followed by some endurance races up to 2005.
The chassis came with a welded roll cage, still homologated and properly registered for road use (street legal homologation of roll cage, racing seats, harnesses and tires), complete of FIA HTP. Since 2016 the car has been fully overhauled and refurbished before its debut in 2017 racing the Italian Historic Cars Championship which just won (4th Period). In March 2017 the car also raced the hillclimb Bologna-San Luca gaining the 1st place of its class.
We'd like to highlight that during the racing season our M3 was driven on open road to - and from - the racetrack: this is a warranty of its high reliability.
The car has been fully restored with care and passion, following the period Group N specs. Weight of the car in running order: 1108 kgs (Minimum weight admitted: 1102 kgs)
