Description:
BDP 423K is an original RS Mexico (Chassis No. BFATLU17106) that was first registered 1st December 1971. Originally in Monza Blue, the car was subject to a ground up restoration in 2003 which included a full respray (including underside) to the current Diamond White.
The car was purchased by the present owner in 2013 for entry into the 2016 Peking to Paris Rally and was delivered to Dave Boucher of Historic Motorsport (Southwest) Ltd in March 2014. She was stripped to bare shell and rebuilt (with no expense spared) to World Cup Rally specifications and specifically for long-distance endurance rallying. The completed works cost over £73,000 and took 24 months – detailed receipts, correspondence and photos can be provided, but were not limited to:
Body shell strengthening, additional jack points, seam welding throughout.
Original Cross-flow engine - re built, head ported, upgraded hi-lift rally camshaft, 40/40 Weber Carbs installed.
Replaced/upgraded all engine ancillaries
Fuel & Electric Lines moved internal
Plumbed-in fire extinguisher installed
5 speed gearbox - re built and modified to quick-release with Cross Member added and heavy duty quick-shift gear lever added.
Heavy duty clutch installed
Tropical alloy radiator and electric fan with manual cut-out switch in cabin
Custom Safari Rally exhaust manifold and system installed
Heavy duty steering rack plus up-graded Steering arms
Track control arms - genuine Ford
10mm Duralloy sump guard, gearbox guard and LSD guard
ATL Fuel-cell added meaning a total capacity across main and reserve tanks is approx 120 litres giving up to 700 km range

Custom Electric loom
The Cabin is 100% customized with Twin-pod dash, new clocks, Monit trip-meter and GPS tracker, Reclining bucket seats and quick release race harnesses, rear seat was removed to allow for luggage, tool kits and spare parts.
Integrated Structural Roll cage, roo bars and bull bars making the car extremely safe and structurally strong
Boot floor lowered allowing two spare wheels plus spares and tools.
Roof air intake installed for high-speed desert driving (filters air intake to cabin removing dust)
Included is a full tool kit specific to the car, jacks plus the same spares package carried on the P2P rally.
The car was entered in the 2015 Sahara Challenge finishing first in class and fifth overall from a total 40 entrants.
She was then stripped down, inspected and rebuilt again before completing the 2016 Peking to Paris Rally in which she maintained first in class and third place overall from a total 115 entrants until a hub spline sheared 7,000km into the event which ended her chances of a podium finish.
During both events the car performed perfectly – she is a pleasure to drive, handles beautifully and out-manoeuvred and out-performed every car in her class during the 40-odd stage rally sections of the Peking-Paris event.
This car is perfect for the serious competitor to enter any long distance / endurance competition and with minor modification to LSD/Gear ratio is also perfect for shorter stage events.
