Description:
For sale is my race-prepared Caterham C400 Duratec 2.0L 260bhp, bought by myself in 2015 direct from Caterham Cars.
The car was raced in Darlington And District Motor Club’s NSSCC in 2016 and it took class wins in 13 out of 14 rounds. It was on target to take every class win of the season, until the last lap of the 14th round where it was 1st in class and 2nd overall behind a Euro Touring Car when the clutch failed. This lead me and the car to lose the championship not on points, as it had maximum scoring points, but on races finished.
Last season, I also raced it in two sprints, taking two 1st places, and in DDMC’s Battle Of Britain where it came 3rd against far more exotic machinery. In short, this car is a race winning car and is specified extremely well for competitive campaigning. This C400 would not be for sale if I could afford to keep it, however I am joining the 420R
Caterham Superlight championship in 2018 and some of 2017. My new build Caterham is ready soon and I cannot keep both cars much as I would like to! In 2017, I competed in CSCC’s Meteor Open Series at Snetterton, qualifying 8th overall from a field of 34, 2nd in class behind Ross Murray’s extremely well-prepared and lightweight C400 with its pneumatic sequential box. Unfortunately I retired on the 3rd lap due to alternator failure. There’s no knowing how the race would have panned out, but a potential fastest lap of around 2.05 would have seen the car finish just behind the very high power Caterhams that finished at the front. If the car doesn’t sell in the next 10 days I will be using it for the opening round of NSSCC at Oulton park 15th April for one final outing. If anybody is interested in it I am happy to sell it before or to meet you at Oulton so you can see it in action.
