Chassis number 26/3967 was originally supplied to Dutchess Autos in the USA and I understand that it was a club racer in period.
Between 2012 – 2015 the car was professionally transformed with no expense spared into an ultimate spec FIA race car by mostly John Smirthwaite. Utilising the very best components supplied by JS Motorsport and Tony Thompson.
A super lightweight car was created. Powered by a JS Motorsport Twin Cam, Quafe race gearbox with lightweight casings and a magnesium cased 4.4 TTR limited slip diff. Cooling is via the TTR jumbo radiator which negates the need of a fan. The car is fully rose jointed and sits on adjustable TTR suspension. Transmission is via the TTR 26R solid rear drive train. Braking is fine-tuned by a TTR balance bar pedal box and twin AP cylinders which enable perfect brake balance with the ultimate AR callipers up front. Brake and clutch reservoirs are bespoke TTR items and add some bling.
The car sits on magnesium knock on wheels shod with Dunlop race tyres and is built around the correct and stamped TTR / Lotus 26R chassis which is stove enamelled.
This car was built using the TTR ultra-light shell, doors, boot, bonnet and hardtop all professionally refinished in period correct Medici Blue to a standard far exceeding what would be the norm for a race car.
Inside the cockpit the car oozes originality with modern ‘classic’ gauges, a polished teak dashboard and suede Momo quick release steering wheel. The windscreen has the vitally important heated elements both sides each of which can be operated independently. Seating has been set up for a taller driver utilising an FIA approved Tillett seat with suede headrest.
Side and rear screens are lightweight polycarbonate with venting fitted all around.
The full FIA roll cage and side impact bars on both sides give you a real sense of security as do the bespoke Willians belts with easy adjust Aircraft buckles. Zero 2000 fire extinguisher and Gel race battery complete the cockpit equipment.
The car is currently fitted is a 45ltr FIA approved race fuel tank with pressure take off check valve.
The car was campaigned by father and son team in The HSCC Guards Trophy in 2016, achieving a class trophy in its’ 1st year racing. During the 2016 season the car was further developed and fine tuned, the result being that it is 100% ready to compete at the front again in 2017.
There has been less than one hour of running since the engine was refreshed and dyno tested by JS Motorsport hence no refresh needed until 2018 at the earliest.
Please bear in mind that this car has been used for just a year since being built with virtually all new parts and so it wants for nothing. It has never been damaged or involved in any incidents.
As with all race cars the build cost far outweighs my asking price, probably by more than 50% but that’s racing. This car is a pleasure to own and exciting to drive and receives a lot of admiring attention in the paddock.
The reason for sale is that, because I am getting on a bit I would like to do a year in Formula Juniors and or perhaps a Lotus Cortina before I hang up my boots so hence I might be interested in a trade either way with one of these cars or perhaps tempt me with something interesting?
