Description:

The 32F of 1977-78 was the most successful Crosslé in commercial terms, with 140 built. Along with other 30-series cars (with which it shares many components), the 32F was also extremely successful on the track, winning multiple championships in the USA, Europe and beyond. This is chassis 101 from 1978.

Nigel Mansell’s racing career took off as 1977 Formula Ford champion at the wheel of a near-identical 32F. In the Sunday Times Magazine, November 2016, England's F1 and Indycar Champion named the Crosslé first among his favourite cars.

This car was fully rebuilt at the Crosslé factory some years ago, with many parts and panels renewed and barely used since. Specification includes the rarely-seen factory upgrade of cockpit-adjustable rear anti-roll bar. Bodywork is as-new in original red gel, with excellent fit and striking looks. Exhaust manifold, silencer, and adaptor plate (engine to gearbox) are brand-new.

Last raced some 12 years ago and carefully stored since, this car needs superficial fettling plus new harness, extinguisher and battery to compete and win.

The car is offered for sale as rolling chassis with Hewland Mk9 gearbox (no ratios) for £16,750 or fitted with Minister-tuned FF1600 engine, freshly-rebuilt by Stephen Patton, for £22,250.

As part of HSCC’s celebration of 50 years of Formula Ford, this car will be displayed at Autosport International at Birmingham’s NEC, 12-15 January 2017. There the 32F joins a selection of other iconic FF1600, well worth a visit for enthusiasts. 2017 is also the 60th anniversary of The Crosslé Car Company, and members of our team will be delighted to meet friends old and new on the HSCC stand.
