Description:

SEAT Sport Leon – Gabriele Tarquini WTCC / BTCC

For sale is the genuine championship winning ex Works Touring car, campaigned by Gabriele Tarquini. It has had a long and successful racing life, winning the WTCC in 2009. Starting life with the infamous TDi engine, it was then upgraded to the WTCC spec 1.6 Turbo before being finally converted to the BTCC Spec 2lt Turbo.  In now sits in its final BTCC livery,  having just had a winter refresh including a new built zero miles NGTC engine by Ric Wood.

History:

  • SEAT Sport (2006–2009): In November 2005, Tarquini was confirmed as one of six drivers at SEAT Sport for 2006. He finished fifth in the championship that year with one win. He finished 8th in the standings in 2007, once again winning just one race. 2008 saw considerable improvement for Tarquini as he finished runner-up in the championship to Yvan Muller winning three races. His biggest success of his career came in 2009 when he won the WTCC championship at the last race of the year in Macau.
  • Sunred (2010–2011): SEAT withdrew from the WTCC for 2010, but provided funding to introduce the new semi-works SR-Sport team, with whom Tarquini attempted to retain his crown in the León. He scored five wins during the season to finish runner-up to ex-SEAT Sport teammate Yvan Muller in the drivers’ standings.
  •   Lukoil Racing (2012): In January 2012 it was confirmed that Tarquini would drive for Lukoil Racing in his SEAT León powered by the new SEAT Sport turbocharged engine.
  • BMR (2013): The Leon was to have a new driver for the first time in it’s life, in the form of Superbike racer turned touring car driver, Warren Scott. The Leon was to see its third engine variation being converted from its latest WTCC 1.6 Turbo to the NGTC spec Lehmann 2lt Turbo and Hewland Sequential.  Having only competed half the 2013 BTCC season before Scott switched to the new spec NGTC cars in preparation for the change in regulations, it has remained unraced since then. It has benefited from an end of season strip down and rebuild including a fresh zero miles engine and remains untouched.
