This FIA Lotus Cortina was built from a well-known, acid-dipped pre-airflow shell in 2014 and has subsequently run competitively with the U2TC, Masters and HSCC over the last 18 months, maintaining a very enviable 100% finishing record across all events, not only in the UK, but across Europe. 

Over the preiod that it has been used in competition, it has been developed extensively with the support of Alan Henderson racing, adopting an array of specialist suspension and drivetrain upgrades to enhance both performance and reliability. These upgrades include uprated front legs using Koni inserts and on the back the car benefits from Spax rear dampers. The car also benefits from Alan Henderson’s solid driveshafts with enhanced bearings to improve longevity. 

The shell is very sound and benefits from seam stitching throughout and a fully certified Custom Cages weld-in T45 roll cage. It also benefits from a professional wiring loom with capability for twin coils and twin fuel pumps which are useful for endurance racing and the low-slung 50l fuel tank in the boot will comfortably last an hour long U2TC or Masters pre-66 Touring Car race. The car also has a bespoke Alan Henderson competiton pedal box which was installed during the 2015 season. 

The car comes with a choice of two engine specifications (both built and maintained by JS Motorsports and fully FIA compliant), the first being designed for high torque (think Cadwell Park, or Dijon Prenois) and the second option being focussed on high power (better for Monza or Silverstone). Both these engine options have been recently inspected by JS Motorsport. If the purchaser requires both engines, the second engine may be purchased by separate negotiation. 

The gearbox in the car is a straight-cut unit with aluminium bellhousing and tailshaft in accordance with FIA regulations and has been just been inspected by Alan Henderson racing. 

The package also includes two diff ratios, (4.4 and 4.7), two anti-roll bars (1”1/8 for dry conditions and a 1” for wet weather), an array of springs ranging from 400lb upto 650lb at 50lb increments and three sets of wheels (one set Compomotive, 2 sets Minilite) with FIA legal Dunlop CR65 M section tyres – one set of which are virtually unused. 

All safety equipment is in date, and importantly the car’s FIA papers are dated 2016, and are therefore eligible for 10 years. 

This car would be a very competitive platform from which to tackle a wide range of pre-66 touring car events including U2TC, Masters Pre-66 and 3hr series, HSCC/HRSR Bybox Touring Cars, CSCC Classic K, the NKHTGT Dutch championship, the Spa six-hrs, Silverstone Classic etc etc and is offered for sale at a sensible price significantly below it’s extensive build-cost. 

The car is offered for sale as the owner now lives in Singapore and it is proving impractical to continue racing from such a long distance.
