Description:
After buying the best car we could find (this is the car Stuart Pearson drove to win the Ginetta championship in 2011), we used it as a base for significant upgrades and have run in the Northern Saloon and Sportscar championship as well as many trackdays.
We replaced the 1800 Zetec with a 2.0ltr Zetec from an ST170, with a strengthened bottom end. The engine management system has been replaced with a Specialist Components ECU which is completely mappable for further upgrades. It has Ginetta throttle bodies and a bespoke Tony Law exhaust (98db) and it currently runs at a driveable 185bhp (dyno plot available), paired to a running weight of 630kgs. This is a reliable and 'safe' setup, nothing too extreme but a significant upgrade from stock and with plenty of torque from low in the rev range. You could, if you wanted to map it with a higher bhp but we felt it would lose it's driveability..
Next step for upgrades would be a Cat Cams top end taking the power to around 210-220 bhp with suitable mapping.
The Type 9 gearbox and Sierra diff both contain Quaife internals, the diff being an ATB (limited slip) unit fitted in 2012, the year we stopped racing.
The bodywork and floor have been developed to reduce drag (a common Ginetta problem).
The suspension geometry has been set up to use Team Dynamics wheels and Toyo 888 tyres and the car runs lower than standard.
The brakes have just been replaced with new pads and upgraded front discs.
The above changes combine to make this a very stable, rapid car.
In addition the interior has been reworked and upgraded with 2 carbon fibre/grp seats, Willans harness (driver's side well in date) and new dashboard. The fire extinguisher is plumbed in as standard.
As well as NSSCC and other regional Sports vs Saloon championships, the car is eligible for CSCC Modern Classics, Modsports, etc. as well as being a realistically priced and reliable trackday car.
Sample lap times: Croft 1.35, Snetterton 300 2.16 (which would have put you 1st in class in the CSCC Modern Classics race this spring).
The car has been prepped and is ready to race.
Throughout its life the car has not wanted for anything, with all oil and fluids being replaced after every meeting or test/track day, all major work carried out at Sultas Autos, Leeds.
Spares package includes replacement brakes, rear diff, wishbones, extensive wheel and tyre sets and a spare front clam.
A trailer is also available, bought new in 2010 and stored undercover.
Price £6,995.00 for the car plus £995 for the trailer and spares package
Genuine reason for sale, both owners have recently had young families and we simply can't find the time to race, so rather than let the car sit unused any longer we've decided to sell, and return to racing at a later date.
