1971 Lotus Elan Sprint - 5410 UE
For sale due to a change of circumstances. Purchased June 2008 from Paul Matty Sportscars Ltd. The car was in a very good standard road spec. For the prior 15 years it had been owned by a BAE systems engineer whom had tended for it lovingly. During his ownership small items of maintenance were done, as well as a few upgrades including a stainless steel exhaust system (available separately) . The owner prior to him had contacted almost all the previous owners of the car, correspondence is included in the encyclopaedic history file.
Over the previous 7 years, the car has been subject to a comprehensive series of upgrades leading to it’s current full race spec today. This is coherent with the HSCC 70’s Roadsports Series regulations, but the car is also eligible for the CSCC’s Swinging 60s Series, as well as for sprint events such as the Goodwood Spring Sprint and assorted hillclimb championships. The car is potentially a front runner with the right driver, and has recorded multiple top ten finishes. It is also a lot of fun at track days, and with its current full race exhaust can still do 98dB events. Most of the parts fitted were supplied by Tony Thompson Racing (TTR), the marque specialist for racing Elans. Three engine rebuilds to the current race specification, have also been undertaken by George Wadsworth at Racing Fabrications and Craig Beck Racing respectively - the two premier engine builders for race Lotus Twin-Cams. There are nearly £44000 worth of invoices from over the last 7 years. Many parts accompany the car to return it to a lower state of tune. The car is currently in turn-key condition, and is taxed and MOT’d.
