Description:
The time has come, after 23 years of ownership, to pass my immaculate Mk1 Fiesta XR2 on to a new owner. I've spent many thousands of hours preparing the car, and have campaigned her for the last decade in the Midland Speed Championship, running in the Sports Libre class.
Over the past few years I have been developing the aero package, and I've added a BERG Cup VW Polo front airdam, splitter and undertray, and the aluminium running boards along the sides of the car. These are included in the sale. The rear wing and mounts are also included.
She has won numerous Best Prepared Car awards at events.
In 1992 I bought the car as a stolen recovered shell, and ran it with a 1372 X-Flow.
Soon I desired more power, and I had the idea of installing a 2.0 Zetec 16V on injection, and pioneered the conversion, which today is the most popular modification to the Mk1 and Mk2 Fiesta's.
In 2008, to make the Fiesta more competitive, I decided to replace the heavy Zetec with a new Duratec 2.0 DHE engine, replacing the entire injection system, exhaust etc in the process. Once again I was the first one to perform the conversion. With the 200BHP 2.0 Duratec, I have several class wins, and today hold the class records for Castle Combe and Cadwell Park.
The shell is MSA Log Booked, and is ready to race.
I have removed the Duratec engine, Exhaust, Driveshafts, and Quaife QKE38Z sequential gearbox, and these are now sold.
The full specification of the rolling shell is listed below. Equipped with probably the best performance parts money can buy (for a Fiesta anyway) in summary, the shell features: HiSpec brakes, fully adjustable race suspension all round, carbon bonnet, grp tailgate, aluminium running boards, 4mm poly windows, Motordrive seat, 6pt harnesses, and a Mk2 Escort adjustable bias pedal box, as well as many other modifications.

Most parts are new, and the car has probably only driven 500 miles in the past 10 years, such is the limited milage on sprints and hillclimbs.
She has been driven at Blyton, Castle Combe, Lydden Hill, Mallory, Donington, Silverstone Stowe and the new GP circuit, Croft, Ty Croes, Snetterton, Llandow, Cadwell, Harewood, Santa Pod, Barkston Heath, Shelsley Walsh, Epynt, Loton park, Prescott, MIRA, Curborough, and Bruntingthorpe to name but a few.
She has appeared in Fast Car, Performance Ford Magazine (Cover car), Retro Ford Magazine, Classic Ford, Car and Car Conversions, Grass Roots Motorsports (US Publication), Retro Cars (Cover car), Max Power, Fast Ford etc.
I will genuinely be sorry to see her go after 23 years of ownership. But the time has come for me to try something different, and the sale will fund the purchase of a Mygale EcoBoost single seater.
For the last twenty years, I have maintained a highly succesful Blog, at www.zetecinside.com and every detail of the car's evolution has been described and illustrated with countless thousands of photographs and words. This little Fiesta is known throughout the Ford world.
The car is currently on Ebay, and the auction ends Friday 7pm.
