The Appeal:

The short-wheelbase, 2.0-litre 911 is where the legend begins. Produced from 1964 to 1968, these earliest cars are lighter, more delicate, and more viscerally engaging than anything that followed, making them enormously prized both as road cars and as historic racing machines. Finding one that has already been properly prepared for competition, with the paperwork and specialist pedigree to match, is a rare opportunity.

This Sand Beige 1965 example, originally delivered through P.C. Pacific in California, has been comprehensively built for historic racing and benefits from an extensive file of invoiced work carried out by well-regarded names in the Porsche world, including Francis Tuthill, Historika, Jaz Porsche Specialist, and Melliard Motorsport. The work spans steering and suspension overhauls, engine servicing, a gearbox rebuild, a complete new oil system, and a frace build completed in late 2024 by Melliard Motorsport. The car was subsequently twice raced at Spa with professional event support.

History and Paperwork:

• Originally delivered on 16th November 1965 by P.C. Pacific, California, USA
• Imported to the UK in 1994; vendor reports one former UK registered keeper, with current ownership since 2014
• Chassis number 302911
• Extensive invoiced history file from multiple Porsche specialists spanning over two decades
• Race build completed in September–October 2024 by marque specialists
• Raced at the Spa Circuit with professional event support in 2024 and 2025
• Odometer obscured by gearbox pattern badge/sticker
• 1st UK owner sent car to Tuthills to convert to road/ rally spec: suspension, body, brakes, engine all done by them

There's a purity to the styling of early short-wheelbase 911s that subsequent generations can never replicate. From an aesthetic standpoint, it's proportionally perfect and it would not be an overstatement to call it iconic. This example has evidently been beautifully prepared. Many competition cars are a little rough around the edges, but not this one. There are signs of use, certainly, but the quality of the work and soundness of the shell are abundantly clear. We particularly love the period competition appointments, with red paint to the leading edge of the bonnet, spot lamps, and polished Fuchs alloys.

• Replacement steering rack fitted with Turbo track rods
• Nearside front brake caliper overhauled with Ferodo DS3000 pads
• Rear brake calipers reconditioned, rear brake discs and pads replaced
• Endurance brake pads fitted as part of the 2024 race build
• Spring plates, bushes, and associated hardware replaced
• Left-side trailing arm assembly, handbrake, rear brake disc, and wheel hubs fitted with new hardware
• Nearside rear wheel bearings and seals replaced
• Corner weighted and wheel alignment set
• New sub-loom fabricated with four fused relays for fuel pumps, heated windscreen, driving lights, and auxiliary fuel tank

The above list shows this to be a very well-sorted 911. The 2.0-litre flat-six is retained to comply with historic racing requirements, and a very fit example of this inimitable powerplant it must be, with 178bhp in its current state of tune. With an extensive (and successful) history behind it, this car has been proven highly competitive and reliable. The vendor states that the car has been serviced, re-prepared and is now ready to race.
