The Type 30 offered here, chassis number 30/L/7, arrived in the United States in November 1964 and was collected by Fred Stevenson and Newton Davis of Lotus East Racing; the pair ran the Lotus operation at Dutchess Autos in Millerton, New York.

This car was loaded onto a boat destined for Nassau, where it would compete in December’s Bahamas Speed Week. Wearing the race number “33” and sporting bright red paintwork, chassis 30/L/07 was driven by Newton Davis in two events. The next outing came in April 1965 in the Sports Car Club of America Lime Rock Regional. Davis again took the wheel and finished 1st-in-class, notably beating Walt Luftman aboard a Ferrari 250 GTO.

For the remainder of 1965, chassis 30/L/7 was fielded in a handful of races before entering dry storage for a number of years. The car was sold to Hans Rocke of Florida and later was exported to United Kingdom in 1979. It was raced for several seasons until being sold to a Belgian collector in the early 1980s, and it remained on static display until 2002.

Displayed at Rétromobile in Paris that year in a completely preserved state, the Lotus was purchased by a Belgian rally driver who commissioned the much-needed restoration after nearly two decades in storage. Available on file are fantastic before and after photographs. Completed in 2006, the period-correct Ford 289 FAV engine was overhauled by Mathwall Engineering—and is rated at 380 brake horsepower—alongside a rebuilt ZFS DS20 gearbox.

Purchased by the previous owner in 2012, the Lotus Type 30 was fielded in European events until it was sold in April 2023 to the current owner, who continued to participate in historic racing. Offered with valid FIA HTP papers until December 2026, alongside a host of spare parts (photographs of which are available to view on file), this US-delivered Lotus 30 presents a wonderful opportunity for enthusiasts looking to compete in historic racing, including Peter Auto series and the Goodwood Revival and Members’ Meeting.
