I have owned this car for about 3 years where i have had a new roll cage fitted, rebuilt the diff and the engine has had a full rebuild with new pistons, valve springs, retainers, bearings etc.

The car was originally a 1600 sport model and converted into a rally car many years ago. It has a na cosworth yb 2 litre engine on mbe management and itbs built by Jondell. This engine is very strong and has plenty of torque geared to over 130mph. I have had 122mph at Bovington and was tempted to reduce the final drive but the car works so well i am reluctant to change anything. it has a fairly new Quaife 60G sequential dog gearbox with a 1:1 6th gear.

My first rally in it was the Jersey rally where we were 6th fastest on the Greve stage then a valve spring snapped so we pulled out and had Andy Jones at Shrigley engineering do a very thorough rebuild on the engine with many new parts. My next rally was the Phill Colins rally at Goodwood where we finished equal 12th after a poor tyre choice. we then competed in the Bovington stages and finished 6th overall then the Challenger stages where we finished 5th overall. We were first escort beating the millingtons and 2500cc escorts. This car is very forgiving and i am just starting to get to grips with how to drive it. The previous owner finished 2nd in the Jersey rally and would have won if he had not hit a kerb and broke his hand, 

Everything is in date, it has a large gearbox tunnel and large exhaust tunnel and has been put on a cat 2 competition car passport (that is why the cage had to be changed) 

The car has been a rally car for some time and has some dents and scrapes as to be expected. it is by no means mint but it is not £100,000 plus it beats many mint escorts. I don’t understand why the car goes so well but it works and that is why i wanted to keep it exactly as it was built. it is a pleasure to drive and many of the parts were from Gartrack. The brakes are AP Monte Carlos and i am amazed how well they work. It has electric power steering, fully floating Atlas axle, compression struts, ZF diff, flat shift etc. The only reason i am selling it is because i am 60 this year and have 6 rally cars so need to thin out my collection and after the Challenger stages rally i dont think i could improve on my finish with the only cars ahead were r5s etc
