The Escort MK2 (1975/76) dominated the racing scene, winning almost every event it entered. In the German Racing Championship, Hans Heyer clinched the title just ahead of Klaus Ludwig – a defining moment in touring car history.

In 1975, Ford in Cologne developed a prototype that became the foundation for the legendary Zakspeed Escorts of 1976 – cars that proved virtually unbeatable. By 1977, Zakspeed had evolved these originals into full Group 5 racing machines.

To make this success accessible to privateers, a customer racing version of the Escort was produced and distributed by Ford – a common practice at the time, given the complexity of the MK2 chassis modifications.
