Jaguar D-Type Recreation By Revival Motorsport

Description:

These fabulous sports cars were designed specifically to win the Le Mans 24 hour race and were produced between 1954 and 1957. Sharing the straight six XK engine and many mechanical components with its C-Type predecessor, the structure however was radically different. Innovative monocoque construction and aerodynamic efficiency integrated aviation technology in a sports car produced a winning combination. The Jaguar D-Type will be forever etched in our minds as world beaters in the golden era of motorsport when the likes of Mike Hawthorn and Duncan Hamilton piloted these machines to victory back in the 1950s beating, specifically the works Ferrari team to the annoyance of Enzo himself.
This Revival Motorsport Jaguar D-Type Evocation was originally built by Mr. John Arnold and his team between 2001/ 2002, it is one of a very small number built for a gentleman's race series and bears the chassis number 002. Theses D-Types were based on the original 50's Jaguar D-Type but with John Arnold's experience with Jaguar competition cars, this allowed Revival to produce a replica that retained all the character of the original but with the durability, reliability and handling of a modern day car. A composite body clothes a tubular chassis with wishbone suspension and coil-overs at each corner, a 4. 2 litre, 300bhp, Rob Beere Racing straight six XK engine complete with triple 45 DCOE Webers, neatly slots in up front. This is coupled, via a Tilton twin-plate rally specification clutch, to a Getrag close-ratio five speed gearbox and a Salisbury 3. 31 Power Lock differential. This incredible combination of power and engineering, makes driving this vehicle an absolute pleasure. The interior is trimmed in a contrasting green leather, the seats are a retro looking padded, semi bucket style with hip/ thigh support pads Velcro'd into place. The steering wheel is a large retro aluminium design with a twin wooden rim. A small alloy gear lever sits on top of the transmission tunnel and in front of this, sits a substantial rev counter and speedo. In addition the dash is littered with oil, temperature, ammeter, fuel gauges, and a sprinkling of warning lights finish this off to make the 1950's look and complement the patina of this D-Type Jaguar. Built as a pure track day vehicle and driven by Adrian Newey of McLaren fame and the F1 presenter  Tony Jardine, this D-Type was extremely competitive with the help of the McLaren team, at that time, attending to the running and suspension set-up. Since its track day times and racing pedigree, this D-Type has been fitted with a milder set of “Fast Road” cams and tuned by Trident Motor Services in Hertfordshire, to make this D-Type into an extremely powerful but forgiving and useable road going vehicle. A fabulous and evocative looking sports car which provides an unforgettable and fun driving experience on the road or indeed on the track at a fraction of the price of a genuine article!Historic registered and eligible for MOT exemption, however a current MOT to July 2026 has recently been completed with no advisories.
Recently fitted with new uprated "Alisport" aluminium radiator.
