Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi GTI-6 Mi16 track / race car

Description:

Hello, thanks for viewing the advert, some important info before you dive into the details.
Car is SORN. V5 in my name but no MoT / Tax. It is not a road car and would take some amount of effort to make it one. Requires trailer to collect.

Car has not been used in anger since 2018 where is was shaken down successfully at Brands following a rear end rebuild incl. new O/S rear qtr panel, boot floor pull out and welds, full new rear beam incl. beam tube, bearings new trailing arm made up by bridgecraft motorsport. This work was after a shunt in 2016 at brands where the car was hit on the right rear wheel. Repairs carried out by Pug Racing and full beam rebuild done by me.
The rear qtr repair is fine although the paintwork is not great.
Overall its a race car and as such has some marks and dents. Indicative laptimes are 1:58 at Oulton Park and 1:49 at Donnington GP.

Due to not seeing use for a while I would encourage anyone to give it a once over before taking on track. It has been started and run up to temp at least once a each year and you can see some of the more recent work towards the end of the advert. Thanks.

Build overview and recent work:

Exterior Body:

Originally a 1.9GTi H reg

Body is stock with the following notes:

Front arches  cut/trimmed for wheel clearance, maintains the standard plastic arches and fixing points.

Bulkhead pinch joint folder back (hit with hammer) to clear exhaust.

Sunroof plated over with an aluminium plate – adhesive sealant and pop rivets

Heated front windscreen with some notably large stone chips that do affect some of the heating elements. 2-3 of them repaired with resin.

L/H headlight glass is smashed behind the clear tape.

New R/H rear quarter panel

Mocal oil cooler fitted in front of the rad

Plastic side windows with driver side slider. (fixed in position windows)

Interior:

Fully stripped interior incl. No heater unit

OMP 6 point bolt in cage with some additional bars across the door and behind the driver to accept harness eyelets meeting MSA regs

Flocked dash

Rev counter attached in front of dials with shift light

Sparco Circuit seat custom mounted to the floor with the tunnel cut to suit

Sparco sprint passenger seat mounted on cross bars

Battery behind passenger seat (new 2024)

Custom aluminium box to house high pressure fuel pump and swirl pot- hardline fuel line inside the car to prevent smell.

Sparco 330mm suede wheel with quick release that acts as an extension

2 sets of 4point harnesses (both will be out of date for racing- but fine for track day use. One pair looks new!)

Had a new lift pump at some point – standard Bosch

Electrical cut off switch

Fire extinguisher system to meet MSA regs (needs recharge / service for race use)

Engine:

GTi-6 head and exhaust manifold

Mi16 bottom end – rebuilt 18k miles before I bought it with:

                New pistons / rings

New bearings / seals all round

                New wet liners

                ARP rod bolts

GTi-6 sump plus extended baffle

GTI-6 oil pump and pump baffle extension

Custom welded extension to oil pump pick up

Exhaust is a custom Janspeed – and then Edwards Motorsport mid section after the Janspeed fell off due to shoddy welds! Been fine since.

Baker BM engine mounts

Solid fork bush to subframe

Cat cams adjustable pulleys

Sandy Brown / Colin Satchell GSXR 44mm throttle bodies on custom inlet manifold

GTi-6 injectors

Sandy Brown custom engine harness

DTA S40 ECU (in glove box)

Mapped by Sandy to 190BHP

Gearbox:

1.9GTi BE3 box rebuilt by Miles at pug racing (twice!)

Incl. New 3rd gear synchro

Baker BM gearbox mount

Mi16 final drive

Mi16 Clutch / Flywheel

Tran X plate diff – rebuilt with new plates  during my ownership and adjusted ramp angles to 30/60 to help reduce understeer (I.e. remove some locking from decel.)

Colin Satchell ‘Satchshift’ system – full gear linkage replacement and spherical joints with lever sitting higher and closer to steering wheel

Front suspension:

 309GTi wishbones

309GTi anti roll bar + stock poly mounts

309GTi driveshafts

Bridgecraft engineering custom front hubs with:

Bored and sleeved where the damper sits for extra camber

Machined TRE hole to accept custom bump steer adjustment kit

306 Tie rods

Spherical TREs

AST 5100 coil overs w/ 400lbs/in springs (dry) 350lbs/in springs (wet) - both eibach

AST adjustable spherical top mounts

OMP top and bottom strut brace

Setup:

-4deg camber 5minutes toe out each side

Rear suspension:

25mm torsion bars

25mm Anti roll bar with 28mm option

Bilstein grpA tarmac dampers (maybe 306 ones – made a massive difference to how the car drives)

Standard Bilstein yellow 205 dampers as spares (probably better in the wet)

Custom machined rear trailing arms and stub axels by Bridgecraft with -3.5deg camber and zero toe. – this does change depending on ride height due to the rather rubbish geometry of the 205 rear beams

Baker BM solid mounts all round

The rear beam tube was replaced as part of the rebuild and fitted with new bearings  ( the good ones with higher and fatter roller count)

Brakes:

Stock brakes with the following:

Goodridge hoses

Ferrodo DS1.11 pads ( have a new set ready to go in)

Motul RBF600

Wheels:

Team Dynamics pro race 1.2 7Jx15 ET15

5mm eibach spacers all around

Shod with some old Dunlop Direzza 03G – need replacing really as must be getting on for 8 years old

4 Spare 1.9GTi Speedlines fitted with Federal 595-RSR (used these in the wet) – one wheel has a slow puncture but doesn’t appear to be the tyre itself

2x Spare 1.9GTi SMR wheels fitted with unusable tyres – used for transport storage

2018 Rebuild:

New rear qtr

Rear beam full rebuild incl. New trailing arms and beam tube

Boot floor fixed

2023 making car ready:

Engine out and:

Exhaust manifold + gasket (replaced cracked one)

Cam belt

Clutch release bearing

Added RH engine mount buffer spacer

Inj seals replaced on a couple leaky ones

Coolant flush

Gearbox oil (Millers motorsport 75w-90 – non LSD to keep the syncromesh happy)

Driveshaft oil seals

Downpipe sealing ring

New Battery

Replace R/H headlight

2024 make ready for track

Bleed brakes with Motul RBF600

New set of front DS1.11

Engine Oil + Filter

New N/S 309 wishbone

Super Pro wishbone bushes

Would recommend an alignment before use due to suspension being off for engine out work.

Spares:

Unpainted fibreglass rear hatch and bonnet that I did not get around to fitting incl. rear plastic screen / windshield.
Pedal box & suspension turret strengthening plates not yet fitted.

Coil; leads; pressure reg; fuel pump; injectors; crank sensor; drop links; GTi-6 exhaust manifold (cracked - per above); other misc items that can be inspected on sale.

The old Mi16 bottom end is available as well, it ran at full power when removed but had lost ~20psi oil pressure due to surge and associated wear, hence removal. This also had a rebuild before I got hold of it ~25k miles new liners, piston rings, arp rod bolts.

Spare Gti-6 head, has some cam journal scores.

6 1.9GTi wheels
