This Lotus Cortina Mk1 was developed and built by renowned preparers Raceworks Motorsport as a no expense spared project to compete at the front of U2TC.

Following many successful campaigns in U2TC including wins in both Silverstone Classic and the 74th Members Meeting in the Whitmore Cup when driven by its regular pilot, motoring journalist Richard Meaden (see video links below), it was sold and spent the next few years outside the care of Raceworks. I then purchased the car from Silverstone Auctions in 2021 and subsequently returned it to their care so they could prepare and run it for me to occasionally race.

Since then, it has proved to be very competitive in everything I entered including being the highest qualifying Cortina in the extremely competitive Masters Pre66 race at Brands Hatch in 2024. The car then led it’s class in the same race before having to retire due to a faulty coil pack resulting in a very unfortunate and rare DNF.

The car has a Neil Brown prepared engine which was refreshed by them in 2024 and has only 5 hours running since. It also has a recently rebuilt gearbox by Racing Transmissions which was again only carried out in 2024 and the entire car has been maintained regardless of cost during my ownership with all the invoices to prove this. Subject to agreeing a price it will come complete with 2 x sets of specially made magnesium wheels plus a set of regular minilite type alloy wheels plus various other spares.

This Cortina is not only an extremely well known car with a fabulous recent 10+ year history but is also a car which is still able to compete at the front of the most competitive grids. However, a new race car project (probably my last!), and the limited amount of time I give to racing, means it's only fair to give this unique car an opportunity to find a new owner/custodian.

It comes with up to date full HTP papers and also, unusually, a DVLA V5C which just adds to the provenance of this very special racing car.
