Description:

Built as a 1500cc F2 car and sold direct from the Cooper factory to well known privateer Tony Marsh to compete in the 1957 season this car has significant period competition history. Marsh used the car extensively throughout ’57 in national and international events including the German Grand Prix ending the year as the winner of the Autocar British F2 Championship.

As a Cooper-Climax T43 Mark II the car is special as it is one of only a few T43s fitted with the twin cam FPF Coventry Climax engine which was destined for the later T45, T51 and F1 Championship winning T53 Coopers. Most T43s were fitted with the older design single cam FWA Coventry Climax engine.

After acquiring a Cooper T45 Marsh sold the car to Raymon Thackwell prior to the start of the 1958 season in which Thackwell campaigned the car. In 1959 Thackwell journeyed to New Zealand to compete in the GP of New Zealand and this is probably where he sold the car to David Evans who used it in national events up to 1961.

The car remained in New Zealand under several owners until it was restored in the early 90’s and brought back to England by David Jefferies in 2002.  Subsequently it has racingin HGPCA and VSCC events.

Fully recommissioned for the current owner in 2014 with new rollbar, engine refresh, used sparingly since in a few HGPCA events.  Further complete gearbox overhaul and unused since.

2025 engine/gearbox/brake check over.

Requires belts/extinguisher. HTP expired 2024, but potential for new papers.

Now potential entrant to Monaco Historique for 2026 - race B class 1.
