The Chevrolet Corvette Callaway Z06-R GT3 represents a milestone in the history of Corvette racing. Developed by the renowned Callaway Competition in collaboration with General Motors, it was specially designed to compete in the FIA GT3 European Championship from 2006.

Based on the road-going Corvette C6 Z06, the Z06-R GT3 has been extensively modified to meet GT3 regulations. It is powered by a modified 7.0-litre LS7 V8 engine, prepared by APP Racing Engines in Holland. Depending on the size of the restrictors, it developed between 580 and 620 bhp. This engine could deliver much more power, but the regulations required the use of air restrictors (limiting the engine's air intake) in order to lower its power output. Under race conditions, however, the engine is under little stress and can cover a lot of mileage before needing to be overhauled. It is coupled to a Hewland six-speed sequential transmission.

The Corvette was fitted with a full aerodynamic package, including a large rear wing, modified body panels and a rear diffuser to improve downforce and cooling. The chassis has been significantly strengthened and the suspension has been completely redesigned. The same goes for the brakes, which have been improved to meet the demands of endurance racing.

The car's specification included a dry weight of around 1,250 kg (2,756 lbs), significantly lighter than the road-going version. Safety features included an integral roll cage, a racing seat with six-point harness and an on-board fire extinguishing system, all of which comply with FIA requirements.

The car offered for sale enabled its two drivers to win the Drivers' Championship in their first year.

During the 2008 FIA GT3 European Championship, the car offered for sale enabled its drivers to win the Drivers' Championship against considerable competition. Arnaud Peyroles and James Ruffier won the 2008 title while driving for Martini Callaway Racing. During the Championship round at Silverstone, they took 2nd place in one of the two races (there were two races per weekend) in which no fewer than 42 cars were entered. A wide range of makes were represented. At Monza, a 3rd place in the first race and then a 2nd place were secured. The Corvette and the Matech Ford GT were the cars to beat.

At Nogaro and Dubai, the French driver duo won one of the weekend's two races and were crowned 2008 Champions. A very good start for our Corvette!

The winning GT3 was then entered in the GT3 Championship by Callaway Competition for the next two years, before being acquired by RC Motorsport in Italy, who entered it in the Italian GT Championship.

In 2012, it received a major update in line with that year's FIA homologation, including an aero pack and paddle-shift gearbox control.

Our Corvette changed hands in 2015 and was sent to Callaway Competition in Germany for an overhaul. It was then used for track days.

Acquired by its current owner, it was this time entrusted to Scott Sport, renowned for the quality of its restorations, who carried out a complete overhaul of the car.
