Description:

This car is in full 26R spec and has HTP papers valid to 31st December 2026.

The body is constructed largely of the lightweight fibreglass used in the 26Rs,  the twin cam Lotus engine is by Craig Beck and shows almost 180 bhp on the last rebuild dyno sheet . There are about 14 hours on the engine since the last re-build and engine life is normally taken to around 30 hours with this spec.

The gearbox is reasonably fresh with about 7 hours and a dog-tooth box is separately available .

The Car is currently in rebuild with Team LEOS Motorsport, new wheel bearings, fluids and crack detecting, new clutch to be fitted also.

All major components from Tony Thompson Racing. 

The set-up, which is superb, is by Martin Stretton who has co-driven the car on previous occasions.

The electrical wiring was fully sorted recently and is carefully marked up.

The 26R chassis is in excellent condition and a long distance tank is fitted, although a small sprint tank is available as a spare. Seats , fire extinguisher etc are all in date and the car has 6 spare wheels.

In the hands of the one of the previous owner Jeremy Taylor, it was the outright Class winner in the HSCC Guards Trophy in 2011.

The car is eligible for a large number of series including the Guards Trophy, the Masters Gentlemen Driver  series, the GTS Equipe. It is also eligible for numerous events in Europe and two Elans were top ten finishers in the Spa Six hour last year with one in third place overall despite the weight of GT40 entries!

The car is road registered,  first registered in July 1963 and has current V5.

We are not clear what the history is of the car prior to Jeremy Taylor’s ownership but I believe it was brought up to 26R spec in the nineties with support from Tony Thompson Racing.  I do not believe it has had any race accidents beyond a minor scrape on the passenger door at Snetterton in the 3 hour  which has been repaired. It has good paint work apart from the inevitable small, stone paint chips on the nose.
