In the early eighties motorsport was reorganized in an important way. Apart from formula cars, four types of racing cars were distinguished: Group A, B, C and N. Touring cars were either Group A or N, the latter providing very limited freedom of preparation.
Group A was the successor of the Group 2 category. 5000 cars a year had to be produced (against 1000 for group 2). Although modifications on the cars were limited, brakes and gearboxes were free when homologated by the manufacturer. Engine modifications were limited which guarantees reliability and an acceptable running cost. The suspensions could be modified within the existing mounting points.

A lot of brands jumped onto the train of ETCC (European Touring Car Championship).
Well known car brands as BMW, Ford, Rover and Volvo prepared their best sellers for the championship and boosted their image by keeping up the pace with the front runners and winning races with drivers who gained lifelong fame.

Despite the rather odd 'boxy' looks and the somehow dull image of Volvo's 240, the 240 Turbo was an interesting car in it's time. In Group A the 2,1 liter engine delivers 315hp and 440Nm of torque. The close ratio gearbox, stiffened suspension and big brakes assuring the speed and handling of this 'flying brick'.

Our cars are 100% newly built. Starting with a naked Volvo 240 bodyshell, the body is fully welded, strengthend and a FIA rollcage is built in. The body than is fully painted inside and outside.
All mechanical components, driveline, wiring, switches, safety features, etc. with which the car is assembled are brand new in order to offer maximum performance and reliability.
