Description:
Subaru based kit car (2009).
Lightweight all wheel drive rolling shell, all running gear less engine and gearbox.
V5C present and SVA/IVA Issued (2009). Built by Adrenaline Motor Sport in Cornwall (Build No 29) finished in Mazda Stormy Mica Blue paintwork.
Originally fitted with a 2.5 litre engine, now no longer with car. Rear differential is open diff type.
Currently on SORN. NO MOT. Mileage 018682.
Design of the Murtaya.
The car has a GRP (Fibreglass) monocoque chassis running from front bulkhead to the back of the car. This has proven very durable and strong. A front clamshell hinges forward and engine access is exceptional, including the spark plugs. Fibreglass doors and boot lid with remote release, complete the body. At the front, the Subaru engine gearbox and cross members mount to the tub and a custom designed steel space-frame. At the rear, Subaru fuel tank, cross-member and suspension all mount directly to the tub. It's a single donor car, you don't need to match a lot of parts from various donor vehicles. The windscreen is from a Citroen AX and is heated and the only Subaru modified parts are the gear selector lengthened to suit the further back driving position and prop shaft because the drive train is 125mm shorter. Remote activated door locks mean there are no door handles on exterior, it has electric windows and a removable hard top. The seats mount securely to the floor (drivers seat adjustable) and a roll hoop with stays also provide the seat belt anchorage's. Space in the boot is adequate and some more behind rear seats.
The car will need an engine, gearbox and recommissioning due to having been stood for 10 years.
The car can accept all power trains up to 2000 model year and later power trains including six speed transmissions with light modifications. Front mounted inter coolers are also possible to increase power. Dry weight is 925kg. Estimated 0-60 mph with 300HP under 5 seconds. Low centre of gravity transforms the handling and the light weight improves performance even using standard brakes, tyres sizes etc. Always a talking point as to what the car is. Its performance for the money is exceptional.
