Description:
Middlehurst Road Race & Classic present this beautifully prepared, race ready 1962 Lotus 23 race car. (Upgraded in period to 23B specification.)
It is believed to be Chassis 6 which is originally left the factory in April 1962 finished in dark blue with a 1100cc Cosworth engine, paired with a Renault gearbox.
Chassis 6 was supplied originally to Mike Beckwith to race privately before he joined the Normand Racing Team.
It was then campained by well known racing driver Albert Poon in Asia, who won the 1965 Malaysian Grand Prix in the car as well as competing in various other Grand Prix events including the Macau Grand Prix.
Thereafter, it was purchased directly from Albert Poon in 1967 by Chong Boon Seng who raced the car at various events until 1970 when it was put into storage in Singapore. It then resurfaced in 1988 when it was purchased once again.
It has since been fully rebuilt and has been maintained regardless of cost by the current owner/driver and is absolutley on the button and ready to go.
Previous competitior at various HSCC and Masters FIA events, as well as the 2016 Goodwood Revival Meeting and the 2019 Goodwood Members Meeting.
