Hello and welcome to the sale of this superb Series 3 Land Rover. Starting with a solid and complete base vehicle, the previous keeper has gone on to thoughtfully restore and improve it over a 9 year period. It has been stripped down to the chassis, which needed minimal repair, before then being shot blasted and painted, and carefully rebuilt, also retaining the original bulkhead and engine. You will notice this has been done with new stainless steel nuts and bolts and rivets throughout, along with many new, refurbished and upgraded parts. The steering and suspension received a complete overhaul with new joints and swivels, polybushes, shock absorbers and uprated parabolic springs for improved ride quality. You can see from the photos that the underside is extremely clean with lovely details including the axle straps and stainless steel exhaust system. The drivetrain saw a new set of freewheeling hubs, and the gearbox, transfer box and overdrive also refurbished to ensure all are in great working order. The engine was rebuilt with a new unleaded cylinder head by Turner Engineering, and the cooling system refreshed with a new radiator. The electrical system was completely re wired with a new Autosparks loom, distributor, alternator and new lights front and rear. The body is extremely straight and tidy with virtually no damage or corrosion issues, or signs of poor repairs. The car was repainted in traditional pastel green, to a very good standard some years ago, and still looks great with just a hint of age related patina and charm now showing, just as an old Land Rover should! It was fitted with new door skins, door tops and glass. The truck cab was also refurbished, with a working sliding rear window and the cool metal sun visor to the front. It has a full set of five genuine Land Rover 'Wolf' heavy duty steel wheels, with goodyear tyres and new wheel nuts. These are fitted with quality spacers to fill the cool arch extensions perfectly, with the spare being mounted on the deluxe style bonnet. It has a new pair of age appropriate acrylic number plates with the correct font, and neat chrome embellishments to the lights, door hinges, tow ball and socket, all lovely details adding to an overall cared for appearance. All the galvanised cappings are in great condition, including the windscreen, front bumper and rear bumperettes. There is also a handy pair of folding side steps, and a rubber mat in the rear tub. A useful Ifor Williams truck top is also available should you wish to add some flexibility to the load area. The interior adds yet another dimension to the build, with the high back seats and dashboard re-trimmed in grey leather, and a lovely pair of custom door cards incorporating a set of large component speakers, powered by a really smart chrome retro style radio that looks just right, yet is packed with modern functions such as DAB radio, handsfree phone and bluetooth music streaming. Combined with the very attractive and expensive wood rimmed steering wheel, and the new tailored rubber floor mats, all these features give a nice mixture of tradition and modern usability. The mileage shows as an indicated 68k miles, which is believed genuine as stated by the previous keeper but we obviously cannot verify due to age and restoration. The 2.25 ltr petrol engine fires up instantly with a little choke from cold, and settles to a quiet idle. On the road, it produces good power with that distinctive rasp from the exhaust, and shifts up through the 4 speed manual synchromesh gearbox with ease. The overdrive is a very welcome addition to 3rd and 4th gear, making cruising much more comfortable. To sum up, this is an extremely clean, tidy, bright, well built and very cool series Land Rover that is ready to use and enjoy, and I am sure the new owner will be very pleased.
